Default Android Wear lets you live without smarphones!

As Android Wear has now switched over to LTE compatibility you can just leave your smartphone at home and do shopping or exercise freely. Initially this facility is only available with LG Watch Urbane second edition. All other smart watches are still connected to smartphone through Bluetooth or WiFi. That means you need to carry the smartphone with you too.

But in this new technology your watch shares a phone number with your phone, but you can leave the phone at home. Hopefully all future smartwatches will come with an LTE radio ready which would be an attractive preposition.

One of the drawbacks of the smart watch was that you used to have to also carry your smartphone around with you as well, and so for me that was the biggest flaws.

In future if this isn't the case, then I think the smartwatch becomes a more appealing prospect.

When it comes to comfort, everyone prefers less luggage. Like @webworld said, it is good to have LTE compatibility smart watches, so that we don't need to carry mobile with us. But the problem with this technology is, no one allows us to use their cell towers for free. I think LTE service providers charge the users. Anyway if it comes free of cost, then it'll be very good.

Yes, cost could be a negative factor in this. I think they will come up with competitive pricing when it is actually live. Even if it costs a little bit, I believe people will still use it due to its comfort level. They can just carry this as a watch and use as a mobile.

I think we can see more innovate products linked to LTE technology in near future. Gone are the days when you need to carry that bulky handset to attend calls. I think then there is no risk of theft also.

I was thinking since the last month on buying a smartwatch (and I was precisely thinking about this one, the Android Wear) but I wasn't really sure because of that drawback that was the need of having a smartphone with you! But after reading this I will definitely try to buy one for the best price as soon as posible. I will offer it to myself as a christmas gift eheh I always liked this kind of gadgets

I still can not see the real importance of these watches to check notifications. I do not know, but I feel that as we could not live without the phone for some time. For now, I see the Android Wear and Apple Watch unnecessary things

I think it is more of a luxury than a necessity. It has become a status symbol in the society nowadays and these companies are taking advantage of this situation. Nowadays you are surrounded by too many electronic/communication devices which is actually adversely affecting your free life. Too much of anything is bad.

But at the same time, this technology is quite different though. It is a good thing that if you can keep your phone on your table and walk freely only with a wrist watch which can keep you updated of your calls and texts. It gives a great level of freedom which is very much needed in the current scenario. This could be a solution for those people who struggle with large phones in hands and pockets.

Yes you said it all! Nowadays new gadgets are just a luxury rather than a necessity. The problem is that companies that produce this kind of gadgets try to create the necessity in every posible costumer through the ads and promotion with subliminar messages for example!

But I'm glad that I'm aware of this and I don't get fooled by them! Of couse that if I receive any of this kind of gadgets I will be very happy to use it! It was for free
