Default Has iphone lost its place in the market?

Some years ago it was about the iphone being the best and most posh phone to have, and you would find only a few people around you who owned an iphone or if you were in a posh area many people there would have one. But of late there is not much talk of the iphone, its not the oh so wow phone anymore. There are many phones in its league now, which are actually better, more durable and have more features, price wise you would find the odd RS2000 to Rs5000 difference, and looks wise well it would be pretty much similar to an iphone or even better. The look of smart phones has become so similar, that there was a time when anyone could recognize an iphone, but the newer models of phones from companies look like an iphone or even better. For example Samsung Galaxy SIII is a number of times better than the iphone, feature wise and look wise.

What do you think about the iphone and its value in the market?

I think that iphone has lost its place in the market, yes there is big hype when they launch their new model, but it doesnt last long as it does with other phones. Neetu your right about the features of other phones, I find that the iphone has less features than other phones and that it lags in a lot of things especially their iOS. With the iphone your just paying for the brand and nothing more.

iPhone is not a big hit in India which is more of an Android (read Samsung) country. But iPhone is very popular elsewhere. Just because we don't see too many sets here in India does not mean that iPhone has lost the market. Quite the reverse really - iPhone dominates in the world smartphone market.

I really really believe that the iphone has lost the wow factor it had when they launched their initial 3-4 versions up until 1phone 3G S and then we have a tsunami of Android flooding the market and advertising like any thing. Android is eating away Apples marketshare every day. There are loyal Apple fans who wont buy an android for may be another 3-4 years but if Apple doesn't do much (innovation) then it is pretty much it for Apple. Steve is gone I dont really see any one out there who cares about the users as much as he did. That is my own personal opinion.

I think even the new iphone 5 isnt good, the looks has totally changed and the screen instead of being a bit bigger has increased in length....totally not worth the money!

every app is paid service, not all formats work, can't be customized, made like a premium fragile jewellery set, closed door policy in terms of development, No wonder it's loosing market everywhere to android.
Retina display, Really!! Why don't they just keep their mouth shut and give credits to SHARP Japan for that.
Camera belongs to Sony, chipset to foxxcon, processor to ARM and SAMSUNG.what else is left...

Perhaps! Perhaps! What you say is true. Even much before, Apple saw three technologies in use at Xerox - GUI, Mouse and Networked computers. They adopted the first two in the Macintosh and made it popular. Apple brought in the innovations and technology together in many cases. iPod was not an invention but an innovation cum adoption/adaption. Apple brought the finger touch zoom-in/zoom-out, etc. I have neither pro Apple nor anti-others. What stopped others in harnessing the existing technologies and being the first to be there? I must give credit to Apple for all their R&D.

As regards to camera from Sony, chipset from foxxcon, etc., this is the standard these days. Companies specialize in their core business. The days of "do it all yourself" are gone. It is neither cheap nor prudent to do so. Hasn't Samsung shamelessly copied most of the iphone features?

I agree iphone has lost it in india though it still seems to be selling pretty good in US and european countries due to a wider fan base and early adopters of new IOS. However i feel windowsphone along with nokia is going to be the next big thing in the smartphone segment which people can watch out for as it was in the case with android/samsung over these years.

just4kix sirji, i will agree with you with few innovation which apple has helped like gui and track mouse.
But the recent trend that this company is upto, patenting almost all ridiculous things and undermining the real parent companies doesn't make for a crowd favorite.Actually the real fact behind apple,Steve and Wozniak and all the back stories which people rarely know about makes me think ,this company just got lucky and add to that the -American Sue any one and bury them in litigation, they are just being a hindrance in everyone's path.

If i buy a product from dell,HP, HTC, Acer , lenovo and the likes none of these companies do their own manufacturing or at least the main precision components but there surely will be mention of the companies which manufactured them with credits and we can easily log on to each vendor companies for firmwares and support.Even Samsung TV sometimes have IPS and VA panels from LG,Sony and these can be easily found out from part list.Apple completely works in secrecy, and everything that comes out is Next This, That and Our invention.
Copying is a term which doesn't go well with technology.Kodak never sued any one and even went under,Hitachi=LCDs and no one even mentions them.
BSI technology by Sony has been adopted by almost all manufacturers.

True that the iphone is popular in US and European countries, people actally line up outside shops to get the latest iphone or place their order.

I have a doubt about Nokia phones being big in the market, the Lumia has done well, but apart from that nothing else has been launched by Nokia!

To be precise lumia is the nokia phone thats integrated with windowsphone 8 and it is expected to improve the market share in the coming days. Currently it has already beaten Blackberry to take the 3rd spot. To be honest Nokia and windows have done a tremendous job in bringing beautiful, fast and innovative phone to people.

I remember when Nokia was once the biggest in the market and was ahead of all the other brands, like you mentioned nithinjosephnalloor that the Nokia Lumia is integrated with windows, this is something which will boom the mobile phone market and make Nokia come back into its league.

iphone has for sure lost its place in the market, there was a time when you thought oh my god that persons got an iphone, but its quite a common phone, especially in Chandigarh you see a lot of people have an iphone its like its just an ordinary phone. JUst some hype when its about to be released and after that its nothing.

I personally think that the iphone is all brand talk and nothing more than that, it doesn't really have any amazing or different features, the mp of camera are so so, its just the Apple brand which makes it so popular. In India it does have its stand, as when a new iphone is launched people do put a booking for it, and even abroad people queue up outside shops to get the latest iphone.
