Thread: Reliance Big TV has Big Problems

Hi all, i can very firmly say that big tv has some big problems. And i would request you all to be very careful before buying one. I bought big tv connection expecting me to view dvd quality picture and sound. But for a dth connection there is a lot more to picture quality and sound. Set top box, packaging of channels, customer care, viewing experience etc. If i compare the audio video its comparable to other dth players, but big tv simply fails in the quality of STB and customer care support. My STB automatically restarts when it gets heated up and it is so frustrating while you are watching something & at least 4-5 times a day. I have called the big tv customer care but they provide a standard reply as to some engineer will visit you. But after making repeated complaints for 3 times finally they came and replaced the STB. And guess what, the new STB is also showing its true colours. I am really fed up. Big Tv also boasts about over 200 channels but they have not reached that number. I dont know what quality of service they are offering to customers. Really stay away from Big TV, am planning to switch over to either Tata Sky or Airtel.

Tata is costly & not offering good package while airtel does not broadcast Zee tv

Big TV is having overall good packages
STB s/f is Sluggish & freezes sometimes but this flaw will be covered in the S/f update..
the s/f & channel surfing is slow due to MPEG 4

just wait for sumtime & then take ur decision

All this Bloody Dth Providers are same. One Is better in 1 and other is Better in something else. Do One thing Get Tata Sky, DishTv , BigTv, Airtel and Sun Dth for different rooms in your House and test them for 1 Month all will have some negatives and some positives. This will help all the users to know all the providers better.

This is just a Joke Take it light Friends, as i am already frustrated by Reliance BigTv. I think i had to get the same old cable connection alongwith Dth so my Mother can see ColorTv or she will throw me out of Home. HAhahaha

My frnd has big tv nd shares the same issues as u guys do. startin wid the delayed installation the problems wid it just seemed to multiply on every stage. the STB has its own mood . gets heated up or just restarts. so i have made up my mind its either tata or airtel .

I agree with you all. I have a tata sky (rs 310 p/m) and a local cable connection (rs 170 p/m), just to realise that on a simple LCD TV all is same. My cable connection is half the price of the Tata SKY, and telecasts all the sport channels, for which tata sky demands Rs 45 per month additional. I have moved back to my cable guy and am very happy. Believe me try the cable guys they also have improved. My cable guy has a generator and the UPS backup, so even when there is power shut down in one area I am not impacted.

Yes That's true that Tata Sky have very costly packages and wont provide all the channels in their highest pack as well. Like in South Jumbo they won't provide Sports pack and Stillo charging Rs.310 for the pack, so if any TataSky subscriber wants sports channels then he has to opt for Sports Add on pack. which will further increase their cost.

If you compare the same with dishtv, They are providing 5 sports channels in their lowest base pack it self and almost all the channels based on your language Zone. Even their Maximum pack cost Rs.312 (Incl. Tax) and covers almost all the channels.

Another point mention here is about picture quality, I think all DTH will have almost the same picture quality.
