Yes actually... it seemed like upgrade was done to further slow down already slow things. I even didn't like the new color combination, red & white! Felt earlier one was better.

How about others.. plz post more comments!

    Thumbs up

Why they are doing so it is just like that they are installing windows 7 in 256 MB RAM.

The "slow change of channel" is a result of either inferior (slow) quality of device components as well as the software. BigTV must fix the software by an update. But they do not write the software themselves. So it will be a long wait depending upon the readiness of BigTV to accept that there is a problem in the first place.

I called up Customer Care today (at 2PM) to get these issues addressed..
    1. Slow navigation of channels.
    2. Preview channel showing up after switching off and switching on the Set-top box and TV and not my previous channel.
    3. Enquire about NGC-HD(channel no. 557)

After a long 5 minute wait, a lady picked up the call. Told the above issues(1 and 2), she forwarded the call to their Technical Department. I again told him this issue.
    His LOUSY reply..

Please put set-top box in stand-by mode, then press Navigation button "UP" then "Power" button and again navigation button "UP" on the set-top box. On doing so, it re-downloaded the firmware upgrade.
After that I found the same delay.. Told him that, and he replied back telling that the navigation will be slow only for a few hours after this firwmare upgrade, and it will become fast after sometime!! I knew this would be the standard reply. (its still slow after 10 hours )
Nothing could be done as he told the only other thing to do is to register a home-visit by their technical dept. for which I will be charged Rs. 175/- (as I had been their subscriber for more than a year!! )

Then regarding the second issue, he told that all big tv subscribers are getting the preview channel as the viweing channel as its was part of the firmware upgrade!! wtf??
He told that a complaint cant be registered for the issue no.2 as he had no option to do so. So i told him to take this as a feedback and tell the developers. (which I know is of no use!! )

Now the sweet issue .. the 3rd one..
He told that they have started NGC-HD as a test channel for HD service and it will be launched very soon (few days is what he told)
I also asked him if Personal Video Recording option will be available or not.. he replied that it will be available along with HD in the same set-top box (HD+PVR=AWESOME)

These are the specifications from him :
    i. 160GB Harddisk in the set-top box.
ii. More no. of HD channels than competitor.
iii. Recording upto 200 hours of video.
iv. Ability to insert pendrive and copy videos and watch them on PC or laptop or similar devices.

i, ii, iii are all OK .. But I doubt the ivth will be implemented!

They are still working on the pricing and other details for HD+PVR!

Anyways, hope the issues are addressed in their future firmwares...
