TO Reliance Big TV DTH Team
I was contacted by one Marketing Executive Mr Sinivas, mobile No. 9848396131 of Appco Marketing (I) Pvt Ltd ( the marketeers of Reliance Big TV), and they offered Reliance Big TV Digital Televersion and told that it is more advanced than HD Set Top Box and for promotion, they are offering to three customers @ Rs 1590/- and if I take the connection immediately, I would be one of them. After taking the payment, I was sent Digital Set Top Box, which don’t support HD, when enquired with the Mktg Exec. , he was giving all vague answers. So, I refused to accept their set top box. Now I am getting message that my set top box has been activated. When contacted their customer care toll free number 18002009001, they say, they don’t have any information. This way Reliance Big TV is actually degrading their image by appointing such marketing people who just want to sell one box by hook or crook and by putting the brand RELIANCE into stake. I have decided not to take any product whatsoever from RELIANCE. My SMART CARD NUMBER IS xxxxxxxx5263

Thank you for your post. This should open the eyes of everyone on how not to fall for tele-marketing tips.
I too used to receive tele-market offers on anything - insurance, health-plan, holiday packages, etc. The tag lines always used to be: "You are specially selected amongst xxx", "Offer is valid today only" or "Offer is valid on this call only".
Lessons:
- Ask the identity of the company and caller
- Tell them to call back in 30 mins and meanwhile verify the credentials with the product company
- Never divulge Credit Card or any such details on the phone
In the above case, perhaps Reliance or BigTV never appointed any such agency. This was probably some dealer/sub-agency who was just offloading old stock.

I gave an article in the DC which got published on 20th Feb, and by 21st Feb the Reliance Team refunded the complete money and took back their Set Top Box.
Appco Mktg is the one who is degrading RELIANCE by giving false commitments.
Tell this to the executive, if you can get the refund, that will be better.

reliance seems to have just one employee for customer service...... i was on for 30mins and still i was kept on hold and had to eventually give in.

Yes, I gave a complaint about Reliance and Appco Mktg in the Deccan Chronicle Paper as mentioned above. The same must have also gone to Reliance Notice and they responded immediately by refunding the complete money and took back their set top box.
