Big TV has a good list of channels, and have a large variety of film channels, which is quite good.

even sky is also providing a good and long list of channels.. i was checking it on tata site so found lot many good channels there.. but the basic package dont cover all the channels which are required for one to get a good dose of entertainment...
but still the channels listed in super saver pack are good enough and worth for Rs. 260
and now tata is offering 0% EMI aswell for 3 months.. which sounds like a good deal..

I have 5 months old connection.
During thunderstorm or heavy rains the service gets interupted.
Is it possible for the consumers to switch to other services like the TRAI is planning in case of Mobile phones?

Big TV promises a lot especially with the first DTH provider using MPEG-4 technology. Tata and Dish are on MPEG-2.
In simple terms, MPEG-4 uses half the band width and hence, it can provide more channels and better picture quality.
But again, can it beat Tata sky , that we would have to watch and see!! Tata sky may also rethink its strategy in terms of Price asked for channel subscription. Already it has waived off the 1000 Rs installation fees.

MPEG4 cannot give you better quality than MPEG2.
Do you know that Blu Ray HD (the epitome of best quality) is encoded in MPEG2. MPEG4 can give you same quality but in much lesser bandwidth because of better compression technology. Ultimately, output quality can never exceed the source quality. The golden rule: Crap in = Crap out and vice versa
