Has any one got Big TV, would like read some reviews from those who currently have Big TV.

Reliance big tv is too new for anyone to provide an extensive review and those who have been using reliance big tv for a while now are all their own employees or friends and family.

I guess will have to wait for Reliance big tv reviews.

Basically u can get an idea from their other services, what bigtv will be like.
My personal experience:

Mobile- sold off all three for 500 bucks after an yr of use (becoming frustrated of their billing)
Wimax- oh boy... its waiting for my termination request after 17 days of not working, preceded by 5 days of working and 8 days of being non functional.
Electricity- i think we all at delhi know what their power is like.

I think i, possibly we all, am better off not stepping onto another ill fated rollercoaster ride.

I agree with you StarryKnight on what you said but I have had very good experience with my reliance data card and I have been using it for the last 8-9 months now although I only use it may be 2-3 times in a month when I go out of Delhi and it does serve the purpose of checking e-mails and other daily use stuff which is what I got it for.. on the other hand Wimax has been a total failure from what I hear.. I have provided them with my documents and picture and what not twice and they just vanish after that with no sign of the connection.

I dont have BIG TV and I dont intend to. I am ok with my Hathway Digital Cable. It is decent enough for the amount of TV that I watch.

Why not BIG TV - Well I am generally wary of anything Ambani and more importantly its a new service. Put these 2 things together and its a potent mix !
Going with my experience of using Reliance Broadnet, I am convinced that they will *never ever* be able to provide decent customer care. We all know what a joke Broadnet CC is. I have written enough about that here....

I have no reason to believe that they will/can provide better CC for BIG TV.

I am sure there are lots of "hidden/misleading/borderline legal" clauses/charges etc in their service agreements, which customers will eventually discover.

Latest update --

Reliance is in advanced talks with Toshiba to sign an agreement for about
15 million LCD TVs, to be given along with the DTH connection. The proposal deal
stands like this: BIG DTH will offer its DTH connection for Rs 10,000-12,000 and
the consumer will get a Toshiba LCD TV free along with the DTH hardware. Also,
subscription will be free for the first six months or so.



BUT I ALSO HATE RELIANCE.. THE NAME ITSELF BUGS ME..

mpeg 4 gives better quality & compression than the mpeg2
big TV uses advanced STB's as it has component output which gives the best quality (ofcourse next best to HDMI)than the composite in TATA Sky & Dish TV(u need to have component input in ur TV set), USB port (heard that we can play the contents frm Pendrive later on ) & in STB model 2 they have given Dolby SPDIF output to amplifier.

I'm frm mumbai & I compared the quality & packages of all DTH providers before going for BIG TV.
Even the quality of Big TV in composite is better than TATA
Eventually the package costing turns out to be the same .I guess dish is cheaper here than Tata & BIg is slightly on higher side

After 1 yr/initial offer. in BIG TV u can opt. for package(starter 1 + free regional pack) as low as 100 rs. even the Starter 3 packs covers most of the channels @ 175 while in tata minimum(family) pack is 200 & dish welcome is rs.262

Frm last week Tata sky has launched new offering i.e. In rs. 3990 u will get the STB & 400 days of super saver pack (Here if u add up the cost of Life style gold pack @40per mnth & 400 p.a + sports gold @30 p.m. & 300 p.a + sports platinum @ 40 p.m & 400 p.a + ten sports available on a la carte basis @ 15 p.m & 150 p.a )
So the total of TATA Sky comes around rs. 5240 for almost a year (BIG TV Max offer @ 4990 + free monthly subcription pack of movies - hindi for 3 mnths)

this is a lauch phaze so service is not upto mark & the Reliance world & Customer Service guys lack the product knowledge.
The movies channel is not working as per the schedule on all BIG CINEMA movie channels(for eg. on channel 120 GOAL was from 15th Aug to 28th aug & 29th to 14th sept. JODHAA AKBAR as per their Schedule but still as on 3rd sept they r showing GOAL )

I purchased the Kit i.e. STB & Max offer frm Reliance world on 31st aug & called the CC for Installation .
The installation guys came to my residence on 1st sept. at 2 pm aa per mentioned by the CC guy.

I totally agree with some users that there are difficulty in getting BigTv installed. But its also true being a New Player in market it will take time to cope with so many advanced bookings.

I am using it from 1 month now and i seem to be satisfied with the quality and reception.

For installation i first sent sms enquiry to BigTv for which i got a reply "thanks for your interest, you will be contacted within 24Hrs, which i didn't. Then i registered online when BigTv was officially launched in Delhi, but to no use again and then i called up Toll free customer care number which was very difficult to get through and registered there and even after 3 days i was not contacted. At last i got a information about neibhourhood dealer dealing in Tata Sky also dealing in BigTv and contacted them. Being a service provider for installation i got it installed same day and all formalities like, Installation, Getting work order, and activation and recharging was done by them itself. Everytime they called up customer care on their own for activations and all other stuffs. I got the information from engineer that many of the features on BigTv will start from 1st November. Like Selection of language on channels like Discovery, pogo, cartoon network. many more channels are being added but it will take another month from now.

In last one month i only faced problem 2-3 time for 15 minutes connection went down. It was then it was raining very heavy with great speed winds in Delhi, apart from that it didn't created any problem. And sometimes STB updates itself then also it stops but thats only once in a while.

The only thing i dont like is sometime the interface becomes so slow that even changing channels take atleast 2-3seconds. The worst it doesn't have Colors channel till yet.

I will definately recommend it to you.

The language selection option is already there wherever the feed is enabled for it. My kids watch many programs in English (as set) but many programs in a channel still telecast with hindi feed. I was told the feed for South is seperate & provided with regional languages also for selection esp Cartoon network etc, though in Gujarat we don't get such options displayed , it just displays Hindi or English

When your bottom line speaks for itself in summary about Big TV, I was wondering why you are reeling out all the sales promotion feed to boarders; do you believe they will catch the bait.

I am recommending BigTv because all Tata or Dish or BigTv are all same, but Channel listing and preview and guide features are better in BigTV. Bigtv is a new entry so it will take atleast a month or two to settle down with all services being acivated by October End.

But BigTv has better reception than DishTv i can guarantee that.As one of my friend is using it.

And if i would have been a reliance employee i would not have got BigTv unless it was given for free to me. This section is to post our own reveiws. And i have mixed reactions till now and on the contrary i am satisfied with the services as they are far far better from cable services. And i think its trend to take newly launched products in the market and i am following it. That's it

I agree all are somewhat same, but do you know channel navigation is best in dishtv, and channel offering is maximum with dishtv 205 channels. and also dishtv has almost all the popular channels except a few new channels like colors ,UTV and neo sports and i hope very soon they will also have these channels on their platform.
