The Apple iPod Classic is a popular portable media player. It has been designed and marketed by Apple Inc. Till now there have been six generations of the Apple iPod Classic. All the six generations have a 1.8-inch hard drive that is used to store data.
The “Classic” was added to the model’s name when the sixth-generation iPod Classic was launched on the 5th of September in 2007. Before this change the iPod Classics were simply known as the “iPods”.
The Apple iPod Classic has an amazing interface. The Apple iPod Classic has a color display that uses anti-aliased graphics and text along with sliding animations. All The Apple iPod Classic models have five buttons. The later Apple iPod Classic generations starting from the 4th one have integrated buttons into the click wheel. This design has brought to the front a minimalist interface which is absolutely uncluttered.
The buttons integrated on the click wheel are Menu, Center, Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Skip Forward and Skip Backwards/Fast Reverse. The Menu button is used to open up the menus. In the old models it helped to toggle up the backlight and in the new models it is used to jump to the main menu. The Center button is used to select an item from the menu. The Play / Pause button works to play or pause a song and can be used to switch off the iPod if pressed continuously. The Skip Forward / Fast Forward button as the name suggest forwards the music or video and the Skip Backwards / Fast Reverse rewinds the video.
The Apple iPod Classic also functions like a PDA, it can display text file and can be used to view schedules and contacts; it can also be synchronized with the host computer. There also are some built-in games like, Brick, Solitaire, Parachute and Music Quiz.
