The Apple iPod Touch and the Apple iPhone are extremely popular gadgets. Here is a look at what they share and what sets them apart.
Both the Apple iPod Touch and the Apple iPhone have the same hardware platform. Also both of them run on the same iPhone operating system. However the Apple iPod Touch lacks some of the features included in the Apple iPhone. First of all it cannot access a mobile phone network. The there is a no built-in microphone, there is not a camera included, there isn’t a Bluetooth connectivity option and there is no GPS receiver. The lack of these things makes the Apple iPod Touch much slimmer and lighter than the Apple iPhone. In fact it is considered to be the training ground for the Apple iPhone.
Now comes the things shared by both of the gadgets. The second generation iPod Touch comes with an added volume rocker as well as a built-in speaker. Both of these things are present in the Apple iPhone.
The second generation iPod touch also has a chrome frame which is also included in Apple iPhone 3G. This makes them look like Twins if viewed from the front. The only thing that sets them apart is the absence of a speaker on top of the screen, also there is no silent/ringer switch and no sleep/wake button on the side.
The second generation iPod Touch also has an audio input to attach a headphone or earphone. Also there is an audio output jack which makes it possible to plug in a microphone. The Apple iPod touch also has a Bluetooth capability to provide a Nike PLUS iPod support.
