Free 2mbps broadband for India

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The government of India is proposing to provide free 2mbps broadband to the entire nation by year 2009 and this is likely to be provided jointly by BSNL and MTNL broadband as MTNL broadband coves Newdelhi and Mumbai and BSNL broadband covers the rest of the nation.Government is proposing to connect the entire population with fiber optic cables and is going to allow resale of bandwidth in the near future.

This has cheered up the entire nation but the telecom operators and isp’s are biting thier nails in dispair.Telecom industry will see a huge decline in my opinion as I dont see any one using telephones when voip is the new C word.I would imagine even mobile operators would get burnt with advent of wifi phones which are already in use abroad.

Cant wait for free broadband:)Â Please feel free to leave your comments.
