I have installed magic Jack on my computer which enables me to have a phone connection with my relatives abroad. The service provider is MTNL Triband. The magic Jack was installed last two months and ever since its use my bills by Mtnl have doubled, Is this because of the VOIP installation or the downloads .Can anyone tell me please?

Two grouses with BSNL broadband. First: a question, has anyone really got 2 mb speed as claimed by BSNL.
And two, what is the average time taken by BSNL to solve complaints? Recently it took three days to correct my Error 691 complaint. And what they did was to change my user name and P/W for log in. Is this normal?

But, given a choice, I'd still go BSNL. I've seen how other Indian connections work.

The latest webmail of BSNL broadband experience of mine beats all. Few (4nos.) mail was of mine send by different people & organisation in Nov/Dec,07 was received on 28.02.2008.This is calssic & superseeds the record of P&T delivery records. Also, a mail sent to BSNL Broadband recepent got returned after 32 days with remark "Cannot deliver even after 32days of trying" by VSNL.
I feel BSNL is adding clients regularly & their server is incapable of handling the volume of traffic.
It is time to make sure e-mail service is of fair standard.

i applied for the iptv in mubai they said it is working in mumbai. so i thought to give it a try. assuring me that it will be connected by 5th jan but no response from mtnl side i kept calling again and again but the persons at the call center said that the cannot call back ne one so i sud keep calling to inquire about the status of it. and when i said that i want to talk to the manger they replied that my house falls more than 2.5 km from the exchange, though it is not its hardly 1 km from my house when i said that they said but the wire which is comming to my place is more than 2.5 km from the exchange so they cannot provide me the service. and they are talking about 2mbps speed bullshit. they r not technically capable at all

The BSNL has launched IPtv 3/4 months back in Calcutta after the Broadband. I took te initiative to avail the broadband among the first 10 userer in Salt Lkae, Calcutta.. Now when the IPTv was launced again I opted for the same & I was offered the service on tril basis.
Now, I find if one has IPTv connection then one cannot use wireless Lan with IPTv. I do not know why this problem. The concept has been adopted from Western countries & there is no such problem in those countries.
In fact, one can have 1 Lan + 3/4 wireless connection working with IPTv absolutly smooth.
I suppose there is a scope for BSNL to check all these parameters & correct the same for a successful adoption of Broadband / IPTv system.

I cannot discard the possibility of that!
Recent news suggest that MTNL/BSNL started their web hosting but they require more servers.Once that reach to margin, They are able to terminate traffic within country itself that free up outward ports from india and hence can be useful in other bussiness like outsourcing etc.

Also Mobile opreators dont worry much because Wi-Fi standards are LAN based.while 3G mobile satellite is on door steps..

BSNL reported in the Newspaper in Calcutta 3 weeks back that IPTV will be introduced in Salt Lake, Calcutta from 15.08.07. Accordingly, on 28th July I submitted my application with BSNL, Bidhannagar office for a connection. I am one of the first 10 person to apply & get Broadband connection in Calcutta. But this time there is no reply or any communication regarding IPTV at all, when 15.08.07 is tomorrow.
Hope this msg. goes to BSNL, Calcutta office for thier positive reaction.

After MTNL took its users for a ride in Jan 2007 by promising upgradation of all existing connections to 2 mbps and then abruptly limiting it to only connections like 400 MB data transfer per month (what will anyone do with this limit, use email at 2 mbps??) they have lost the right to make such spectacular announcements. Us consumers aren't idiots to toss around. MTNL can blow itself.
