GPRS and its various functions

The GPRS is a service that can help to upgrade a GSM data service. It provides services like a Multimedia Messaging Service or MMS, PTT or push to talk service also known as POC, Push over cellular. It also provides an instant messaging service known as Wireless Village

GPRS also helps to provide Wireless Application Protocol or WAP services on smart devices with capabilities to handle internet applications. GPRAS also helps by providing a Point-to-point service that works with the Internet protocols. It also improves the short message service also known as SMS. GPRS also makes some future enhancements possible that are flexible enough to add some new functions, like a bigger capacity, large number of users, better accesses, better protocols and latest radio networks.

GPRS works with a USB GPRS modem like a Huawei E220 Modem. Such a modem uses a terminal-like interface with a USB 2.0 port. There are various data formats used in such a modem like, V.42bis, and RFC 1144. They also have a pair of external antennas. The GPRS Modems are available in the form of add in cards to be used in laptop. They are also available in the form of external USB devices. This USB device is the same in shape and size, just like a computer mouse.

GPRS can also be used as bearer service for SMS. If SMS is used over GPRS, the users can achieve a SMS transmission speed that can be as high as 30 SMS messages per minute. This is a much faster speed than the speed achieved with the help of the ordinary SMS over GSM service, that is somewhere about 6 to 10 SMS messages per minute.

GRPS indeed is a really wonderful communication and data transfer service.
