If you want a sleek laptop, go for the MacBook Air. It is the thinnest Apple Laptop that there is. This is a original Macintosh notebook computer which has been designed by Apple itself.

The MacBook Air is considered the ultra portable laptop in the Apple’s MacBook Family. The laptop was first introduced on Jan 15, 2008 at the Macworld Conference. At the same conference, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs described it as probably the “world’s thinnest notebook”.

Since the computer’s size and weight has been reduced certain standard features found in the Apple laptops have been removed. There is a built-in removable media drive. The users can purchase an external USB SuperDrive, if they want to. The users can also use the bundled Remote Disc software that lets them access the optical drive installed in any other computer.

The laptop does not have many features of the larger MacBooks, as stated above. It does not have a security slot as well as an Ethernet port. However a USB-to-Ethernet adapter can be used separately. There is only a single USB port in the MacBook. Also there are not any Cardbus or ExpressCard slots. There also is not a FireWire port in the laptop.

The MacBook Air ha san amazing feature. It can remotely access the optical drive of another Windows PC or Macintosh without using a wired network. However the other computer should have the Remote Disc program installed in it. It can also installation the applications from a CD or DVD inserted in the other laptop. The laptop can even reinstall the system software the same way. The Remote Disc application also supports the net booting feature. This means that the MacBook Air can boot itself from an installation DVD inserted in another computer’s drive.
