Reliance 3g data card : There are a lot of wireless internet options available in India now for instance airtel data card and hutch data cards which has now changed to vodafone data card and tata indicom and reliance are also offering wireless internet at very affordable rates but when compared to UK prices are still very high in India as one can get a wireless broadband connection using 3g technology at £10 per month from 3g and Vodafone and speeds are faster then 256kbps with the added advantage o being able to go anywhere within the UK.
I have got this reliance wireless data card and to be honest I don’t like it that much when I compare the speed with what I get in UK as some pages take ages to open leave alone establishing an ftp connection with my servers…
I normally have to do a lot of ftp work as I have a number of clients for whom I take care of their servers located in Germany and USA which obviously require me to have a good internet connection all the time although I have a team of guys working 24/7 but there are still some problems which they cannot take care of themselves and have to refer those problems to me. I am now looking at buying a teaming software and have at least three wireless connections one another laptop and use a LAN network on another laptop so that I would get access to the best network at all times but then this comes with its own set of problems for example if I am doing some work on a server I will be logged out every time my ip address changes.. I guess will wait for 3g 
for the time being reliance data card is doing the trick.

Reliance data card which I bought some time ago is working very well and whenever sify broadband is down I just have to plug in my reliance data card and I hardly ever notice any difference in browsing speed except for the fact that I keep images to min quality using reliance’s net booster software which is supplied free in the installation CD.

Reliance offers max 144kbps. Airtel will give u 236kbps/ or sumtimes 214kbps
BSNL will give u 144 or 2mbps…..coz thats a new tech thing called EVDO and more over 2mbps would work only in certain areas again. Airtel @ 30% GSM signal strength is working good in mumbai, but in hyderabad…the location where I actually worked….used to give very poor performance…… If you want to know the technichal specifications and stuff like that…I might suggest u visit the site of the actual provider of the cards…ie http://www.option.com….in the site u just look for an EDGE/GPRS card because its the only product provided and supported by the GSM operators…and u have also the choice of buying it from the grey market…..make sure your laptop supports it……
Guys .. I guess u should all contact TRAI (Telephone regulatory Authority of India) regarding this. There may be atleast 10% chance of them doin somethin if so many of you email ur problem regarding reliance/ airtel data cards.
Why one has to contact….if sumthing has to be done…..it should be done by TRAI itself….Its a regulatory authority…not a police station where one has to file a complaint…..themselves cant solve the existing problem of spectrum…how can u expect to sort this issue….

hey guys. for all ur kind info. i am a user of reliance data card for tha past 2 months. its a regret tat i bought it even without considering anybody.
the speed it gives is horrible (0kpbs most of the time). it is slower than the dial up connection most of the time. even i face the disconnecting problem over and over. it takes hrs for me to send mails as the connection fails.
I have complained to the customer care plenty of time and they repeat their statement again n again as the connection in peak time and according to location will only be 20-40kpbs.
can somebody kindly help me suggesting a procedure to return back the data card or sell it.
also suggestion required on which connection to take with the rates. i am a frequent traveller.

I am Sachin Gupta (customer id no. 220509898672). I applied for reliance broadband and got the connection installed on 4th April 08. On 16th the outgoing calls through the fixed line phone stopped. On enquiring with the customer care, I was told that I ve used the data worth Rs 9000 and since my credit limit of Rs 4000 was crossed the outgoing calls were stopped. On analyzing the bill I found several discrepancies:
1) Person from Reliance installed the connection at about 5.45pmon 4th April and the PC was left on. No one used PC after he left but the usage shows uploaded data as 2.92 GB. I am not able to understand how can the data uploading start on its own when no was using PC.
2) Usage also shows that in span of 12 days data worth 8.3 GB was uploaded. This is something impossible as I never uploaded any data. I had chat only once on yahoo with web cam (2 mega pixel) on for 30 min.
3) When my credit limit was set as Rs 4000, then why I was informed only when the usage had reached Rs 9000. They should have terminated the connection immediately when the usage crossed Rs 4000.
4) Also there was a free data transfer worth 1GB and 50 free calls. The bill dated 11th April does not reflect the same. They should have deducted the usage for 7days on pro rata basis.
5) On contacting customer care they are not able to give any information of the uploaded data. The reply is always that I ve downloaded Rs9000 worth data and so has to pay the same.
This is how reliance is looting the customers and in the short span they are among Fortune 500 list

There is only one broadband data card available and that is bsnl evdo data card whcih will give you speeds upto 2.2mbps and all others are 100-144kbps which include airtel data card, reliance data card, tata indicom data card and all the others.
Another problem is that bsnl is still running these evdo data cards on trial basis and are only available at select locations across India so you will have to check with your local bsnl office to get hold of one.
In pune/Sangli which datacard will give good services…..Reliance/Bsnl/TATA…plz guide me….

Reliance data card is painfully slow. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless you have no option. TATAindicom is comparatively better. The problem with BSNL is, you may get connection where you least expect and you may not get connected where everyone else get network.

I would recommend everyone please don’t get into this sales people comment about network cell sites congestion problem at peak hours or any other sales pitch. if you dont have choice, then buy it with minimum charges scheme and pls be prepared to logon for 1 hour for 3 minutes work. I have read a lot of comments here saying cant even open gmail or webpages and all that but my experience has been entirely different.
It all depends on where you are and how far the reliance tower is from where you access the internet. I have experienced that if you have 3 or more bars on the screen for reception then it will run very smooth with no issues what so ever but if it comes down to 2 bars then you will have trouble opening even small pages like google search and you might not be able to load the whole gmail pag even so it really depends on how far the reliance tower is.
Reliance data card sucks…. BSNL’s EVDO is far better…. it offers unlimited usage for only Rs 550/month…..besides much superior speed (between 100 kBps- 180 kBps if it is showing 4-5 signals) …… there is no point in using reliance…… even with one signal BSNL’s EVDO connects immediately and gives 20 kBps…… dont let this mahachor company Reliance dupe you…… u can use BSNL card on Mac also…..go to bsnlevdoclub.com for getting help on how to configure it fo ur Mac PC
I have also taken Reliance data card and till now spent Rs. 5000 on the modem and on paying the bills extra. They had given me a white data card which was returned and also the executive said that many of them complain on its use and the cost and the accesbility. Instead of this i was replaced with a ZTE model which was an open piece. I requested for a close box , new piece but the executive said as ur piece was open and used he had to give me an open data card modem. I used that for around 3 months but always getting disconnected. After complaining, the guy says he will help me with it but as far as my experience is with reliance, Ambani was very true in what he said….karlo duniya apni mutthi mein…” Sabka maal apna mutthi mein”…

Before writing my feedback about data card i request all of you to give sincere suggestions rather just highlighting it. It not only sufficient to have continuous connection, speed does matters a lot.
Reliance data card is worst i have ever seen. Problems
1. They dont support some windows erver edition. You need to get the software from the same vendors. ( Low Priority)
2. Bad experience : after data card purchase my connection got activated and i started to use. Within few days connection got deactivated due to negative address verfication. Funny thing is connection got activated after valid address verification. I lost few days of service as mine was kind of pre paid 999 plan.
3. There is a kind of problem with device. You need to plugin the USB data card and unplug many times just to get connected. Few times you get errors since software doesn’t recognize the data card.
4. Signal strength is very poor. Connection speed is 115 kbps and download speed is 10 kbps max.
5. Error : Timed out occurs from many sites due to the bad network.
6. Only good thing is it never shows disconnected messaged at all, even though you can browse through the sites.
I suggest rather beg everyone not to buy reliance data card. Please consider my sincere suggestion.

The problem is that for those who travel across India very frequently there is no other alternative and reliance data card is providing what it says is on offer… 100kbps and the connection is stable aswell which is great as I travel a lot and I have been using reliance data card with no trouble atall although getting it activated in the begining was a lot of hassel.
This data card is only good for browsing and checking e-mails … if you want to download heavy files why not get a broadband connection? this data card thing is strictly for those who want to stay in touch and get their e-mails while on the move.

Hi, I am from Guwahati, Assam. I got the BSNL data card last month. The main problem I am facing is that i do not recieve any signal. Sometimes a single bar appears and that too for a few seconds. I am not able to access the net properly. I talked with the concerned people and they said that due to multi-storied buildings the instrument may not recieve the signal. But within our city there are lot of high buildings, how come there the problem does not exist. I am about to submit the instrument but before that I request any suggestions/advice for this case because I know BSNL service is better than the others. I want suggestions what may the possible reasons for me not receiving the signal or how can the signal receiving be enhanced. However, I would like to mention that the signal tower is not far from my home, about 4 or 5 kms.

I want to say something over Mr Mikoo Dutta’s problem……..
I m also using BSNL EVDO Datacard since last two months. It’s performance is everage. Sometimes it can’t open pages but sometimes it works realy good. In Guwahati BSNL Datacard is running on CDMA technology. But outside of Guwahati BSNL’s network is GSM based. That’s why outside of guwahati it doesn’t work. If you r getting the “1X” signal(near of the tower signal) in the Datacard menu, then it is having the signal. But thereafter it can’t open pages then it is network problem(if the setting is ok).
In Guwahati the CDMA network is not too high quality. That’s why I suggest you to try your Datacard at some other places in Guwahati. If after that, it doesn’t work then the problem is in your USB modem.
Note: The common number for dialing from Datacard to connect is “#777″

Reliance data card users are facing some unique issues with using SMTP or POP3 of any other provider.
My company hosts with a reputed provider but I am unable to use SMTP / POP3 account and smtp server of my hosting provider, when accessing the internet through Reliance data card. I am able to access/use the same service via Airtel or any other ISP.
Looks like Reliance is blocking some services for its data card users.
Could this be because,
i. it is trying to throttle users and enforce low bandwidth usage on its wireless broadband service?

Hi this is Shailesh want to tell you all that whenever I use my broadband net connectin it get slows down. When I first make it on at that time it use to run very nicely but after an hour it get stopped. and when i try to disconnect and reconnect the network at that time it shows a message that, An authentication error has been occured and Ur USB device cannot be recognized. So give me the solution of this type of problem.

Reading all the comments posted, one wonders how reliance top level manmagement is turning a blind eye to the adverse market feedback on its performance.I guess the best solution is to make a complaint to the consumer redressal forum of your jurisdication.. The nature of complaint should be ” deficiency of services” provided. Under this clause you will be entitled to get compensated for the poor service levels. Anyway,, bottomline, I need to have internet connectivity for a period of 2 months while on business. Could any one tell me what is the alternative to have data connectivity. I think its a shame that India being on the global map for information technology services, does not provide normal services in the domestic market. I am shocked to see the poor service levels of all the ISP providers.. Its really a shame and disgrace that neither the govt nor the business does take steps to resolve this issue.

My wife started using Reliance data card from past 2 months. Initially the internet was working properly speed was not so great but it did the work. Last week for the first time we had an issue with connection then started our nightmare. There is only one person available at Reliance web world who know how it works and even that fellow gave wrong information to my wife that there is enough credit because of which our internet credit is over and it started using the main balance (price is way too expensive for 2hrs it deducted Rs:200/-) and after that internet stopped working. When we contact the same person at web world he was still insisting of enough credit and asking us to contact customer support. The customer support team are completely incompetent they don’t even know what is the problem or how to answer the customer’s queries. After one day of phone calls with support team we paid the bill and also took the data plan of 25hrs to use internet still we cannot connect to internet. After waiting for 4 days the team at reliance web world mentioned that 25hrs data plan is not properly charged and we need to wait for another 2 days. Been a week and even now we don’t have any internet.
I have no hope that issue will be resolved anytime soon. I am not going to use Reliance anymore in future and I don’t even think of recommending it to any other users either.

Reliance datacard has very less speed. Its connectivity is very much erratic. Their helpline is active by answering, but not active on giving you a good service or final result. I had taken Reliance datacard and disconnected within very few months. It was a very bad experience.

Please do not use the reliance data card. One of the worst services and frequent disconnection. The speed is average . I have been calling them but they say that they have rectified the problem. Very poor service.

i have tata indicom plug-to-surf whiz , purchased 1 month back . initially surfing and downloading speeds were too slow . i tried different internet / dial accelerators, at last chose speedbit download & video accelerator. then my internet download speed increased from intial 3-4 kbps to 17-20kbps (ofcourse still its not good enough , but for the city i am studying in, this is the best i can get wothout too much effort. here there is no acceptable WIRELESS broadband service). however now the pages open at acceptable speed ( except while i am downloading anything ). as i am on unlimited tariff, i sometimes even keep movies for downloading before going to sleep. there is no problem in chatting/webcam/ web browsing . these all working well for me (opposite to what i was told about tata indicom ) . FURTHER MORE IT IS FREE OF CHARGE (no mnthly rental ) FOR 2 INITIAL MONTHS ! its good for home use .
i somehow calculated it and decided to purchase tataindicom depending on service+cost+speed. my calculations were correct. if you are using any other (airtel/reliance/watever ) try internet accelerators instead of being upset abt the slow speeds. may be you will get even more than tataindicom .

My net connection remains diconnected even though I have now made tha full payment of my due bill at Reliance company’s Ooty outlet. The connection has not been restored in spite of repeated requests through the last one week. My connection may kindly be restored and, as alrady requested through your office in Ooty, it should be converted into a pre-paid roaming free connection within India.

Recently i buy a Broadband+ of Reliance, and at the time of selling they says this is 3.1mbps speed and at download you get min 2mbps & upload u gate 1mbps…this is the standard they maintain…but after i purchased i feel very bad that i am geting a download speed of 40kbps and a upload speed 3kbps…it is worse than a netcafe….and these BLOODY F**KERS Reliance guys says that do that do this…u will get speed…which is not possiable….and in which site they test u the speed that site also paid by this F**kers…so that speedtest site shows u its 2.8 or 3mbps speed…so pls i all ready wested 3500Rs on this data card…so who ever is new thinking to buy this data card pls dont go for this other wise u will be cheated by these reliance F**Kers….same as with TATA photon…if u have a traveler and always u want to conect with net then might be in that case ther is no option other wise…dont go for this bloody Broadband+ of reliance….and the coustmercare of reliance is Useless…they dont know any thing…..pls guys i all readu wasted my money hope after my blog u wont do the same mistake……

speed is fine..no prob for that..but dont expect, if 3.1 Mbps they are saying then it should be 3.1 MBPS
it will vary from 100 – 200 kbps–serfing speed.
and if download then max- 70kbps…

I am using Reliance high speed data card since past 6 months. My colleague uses high speed data card of tata called photon plus since past 6 months.
Reliance is the worst data card in the world and the most irresponsible product from one of the most irresponsible company of India with respect to communication and technology. Even if they offer for free, please do not touch it with a bargepole. Even if you have to pay double for Tata please use tata as it is 100 times better as a product.
The management of reliance are crooks and their employees and technical people a bunch of jokers who together are running a circus.

The best is something you have not heard, i had paid Rs2200 to a dealer called viewpoint in the month of february 2009, near more superstore in evershine city vasai east, maharashtra. i have still not received the modem.
i called the dealer however they kept telling me that they are sending it which they have not, i have also written to the company, however they too refused to help me and asked me to go back to the dealer, i am going to print pamplettes and distribute them around the store.
i am also taking this complaint to the consumer court next week.

I used Airtel Datacard Edge..It’s good depending upon the Area..If u just move away, To be frank it’s really slower than Mobile internet..Mostly it work in night times..DON’T GO FOR AIRTEL OR ANY OTHER EXCEPT BSNL 3G..It’s costly but works a lot..
I too suffered a lot in data card. before get a data card, he told so many features .. he said like no need to first month bill second month you have to pay in 50%, i trusted all his non sense words. and bought a card. then i came to knw the real of the data card. next month i i got a bill , it was 4000rs bill without using anything. I was raising a compaint regard this. No response from customer care. Daily i was getting a call , n expalined everything them daily. BUt no use simply say i wil get back to you. then another excutive came home . and threaten me . He was very local guy. He had intention to get the money . I exaplained everything. he himself said no use if u hve raised the compaint. then i decided to pay all the money. finaly i thought to deactivate the card permanently. the customer care said , it will take 1 month to deactivate so you have pay the next month bill now itself. What the hell is , why should I pay ? Cant you terminate on that day? If you cant, then how do you deactivate the connection if we havent made payment on bill date?
Its really really ridiculous..

If you are in India get yourself a BSNL broadband Wifi connection, it better than the best! I have Reliance HSD too, but having faced enough problem of frequent disconnection, I changed over to BSNL and I am quite content. Talking about Reliance HSD, the company has an amazing tenacity to come out with more convincing lies and false claims, campaign after campaign. They claim the product is under direct supervision of Mr. Anil Ambani! In case that’s right then Mr. Ambani should take the pain to browse the web and go through the feedback given by scores of disgruntled customers. Mr. Hrithik Roshan who is the brand ambassador for the product, too should reconsider his decision on endorsing a product which isn’t delivering what it claims. Mr. Ambani please ask your project team to individually call each and every customer in next one month and collate information on quality and consistency of your product. Last but not the least, Mr. Anil Ambani Sir, please institute a mechanism to hire professionals in your customer care team and not bunch of amateurs who can neither comprehend our problem nor communicate properly!

I purchased Reliance USB modem(3.1 mbps) in feb 2010. It performs well till 2 months after that I am facing lot of problems like frequently disconnection, very poor speed. I am getting 19 kbps down load speed over 3.1 mbps. I complained many times but didn’t get any solution even very poor response from customer care.
Still facing problems without any solution. I would suggest never ever purchase Reliance Data Card.

I recently started using the reliance data card 60 hours a month plan (high speed data plan 750 rupees + taxes of Rs.100).i.e roughly 2 hrs a day.Please be aware that the billing cycle is every 25th.So if you start on the 20th you will be charged for the 5days not hours you use.your bill will be prorated for 5days at Rs25 per day for this plan.I ended up paying Rs450.00 for just 20 hours of use in the first month.Another problem is when you connect the user log says some thing…so many hours used ..but it is not correct.Your actual usage according to Reliance is very different.The second month though I had used only 42 hours out of 60 “free” hours according to the log,the bill i received was for 92 hours.So instead of 750 + ~12% tax I got a bill for Rs.2200.00 .The answer i got from them is that I may have not “physically disconnected” the device from my laptop and so was charged for the “extra” hours used.The connection log is not accurate and that is mentioned in small letters on the opening page!I don’t understand how the connection log cannot be accurate.Is there a way we can complain to anyone about this-The telecom regulatory authority or somebody…

Finally, after having taken the monthly fee, the agent at the counter forgot to enter in the computer for it was not working at the time they disconnected me without any warning.

i’ve recently taken MTNL’s ilemon card for INR 2490 in Delhi. the speed is superb ( actual speed upto 2.7 mbps). This is also probably the cheapest card as they give you 15gb of data free with a validity of 2 months ( worth atleast INR 1000). another good thing is that the card is not locked so you can change your service provider if needed.
However before you buy just chech MTNl signals in your area of most common use.

I intend purchasing Reliance data card.Whether any one can advise that the same will work in Kumbakonam Town of Tamil nadu.
Tata photon is much better than Reliance and MTS Mblaze.(In the Delhi region). But given that a few like Vodaphone and Tata Docomo have come out with the 3G cards, I would strongly advice you trying those. 3G is considered to be much faster than Edge .And given my experience with MTS (which is based on CDMA) i am sure it would be better than that.
I am persoanly going to shift to 3G internet soon.

I am working in Bangalore. We have tested Reliance and tata photon broadband datacard in 3 places of Bangalore. I agree that Reliance datacard is good compare to other datacards.
But don’t expect that speed what they offer 3.1Mbps. When you see in Reliance netconnect window it shows nearly 600kbps. But this is misguiding you. Actually if you compare this is also wrong. I have tested this datacard by downloading WinZip (18MB). During download I have opened Reliance netconnect window in one side and normal download window in other side. In normal download window also we can check speed (bottom of the window), so don’t use any testing software. Reliance netconnect window shows nearly 600kbps and normal download window shows it as 60kbps. For work comfortable like in office landline connection we need 126kbps. But 60kbps also okay, np. So, Reliance is cheating, what they have done in the nectconnect window software that normal download speed * 10. That means 60kbps * 10 ==> 600kpbs. It is ultra cheating. But if you compare to other datacard, the Reliance Datacard is toooo good. I am using it for remote connection of my office desktop and using 5GB plan. 5 GB plan is more than enough. Normally it won’t reach more than 2 GB. And also there is no frequent restarting of connection problem like in BSNL landline and tata photon.
Another thing I want to add here is, if you are using datacard for remote office desktop connection at home. If you think you are going to use per day 8 hours then 5GB plan will come 34 days (maximum) (excluding other personal download). This is also I have tested and calculated. This is more than enough. If you minimize the remote connection window, then also you can save the usage (like putting in pause mode).

Reliance is a chor company. I have been using the Netconnect – supposed to be broadband for last 1 year and the speed is pathetic. I have already filed a case in consumer court to get full refund and damages for deficient service. They promise 3.1 Mbps but till date I have not got even 100 Kbps and I have changed the Huawei modem TWICE!!

Dear Data Cards seekar, i have used reliance 3G data card for one month. From my experience a humble request! dont buy that bullshit. My experince is that reliance is cheating a whole country. They have committed 7.2Gbps sppedd but i hardly get 50 Kbps downlad even singnal bar if full.
Here i strongly recommend to don’t by reliance 3g Data card. I am sure any one 2G or CDMA data catd is much batter than this. Ealier i was using Vodafone 2G data card whih give me very good speed than the 3G reliance. Relaince is chetting to his customer.

I am neither a sales person of any data card company nor a good contributor to public forums ( i am mean and simply extract the information and get out of the place) But my relience data card connection fucking me so badly since last 4-5 days that in the middle of night i have to write this to ease my frustration for them. I am not saying that any other data card will always give the better connectivity every where but the attitude and careless behavior of reliance is unmatchable. I fucked up by them 4 years before while using their CDMA phone in Bangalore and i swear that i will never ever use any service of them but as time heal all wound and it was cheaper than others so i put my self in-line to be fucked up by them again. The response from their customer care is like that ” yes there is some maintenance work going in your area it will be after that ” i ask how much time it will take ” he says “we cant say anything about time “. the most unethical group of India. “Kaash mai chankya hota aur relience group ko india se ukhaad phekta ” but anyhow its not possible so guys please do consider again if you going to buy reliance ” are you really gay?”

i am using reliance last 6 years though i enjoyed unlimited access before but after lauching their higher version of Hybrid etc there no unlimited plans they limit the speed upto 10gb or 15 gb after that there’s plans or its very high over priced.
Now these days i suffered too much becoz of this problems as my limit get’s over in maximum 20 days and for 10 days i am facing big problems…in down loading mails. i have informed last 3 months no body is bothered to answer my request and become worst.
soon these guys will lose their business.. its not only i am facing problem many started complaining.. and no officers are worried… reliace is paying for their staffs just for collecting money other thatn that they just time pass not intend to give some soloution.

I have never seen a data card service provider worse than reliance. He does not send bills by mail. Worse than that he does not secure the data of teh customer appropriately. My name has got changed in reliance database and he wants me to go to reliance web world to change my name. It is the biggest piece of shit I have ever seen. Worst services dont even think of relying on to any reliance product.

When I called customer care for the convertion, they tell me to go to any reliance outlet and fillin a form and submit and it will be done in 5 working days. I went to a shop in virugambakkam and they told me to go to T’Nagar. When I went to t’Nagar, They told me to go to Ashok nagar. When I went to Ashok nagar, they told me that it cannot be done now. Change of plan can be done only after 3 months; already there is abouy 30 convertion pending since one month, so come next month we will try to help you.
