International Federation of Phonographic Industries has said in a statement that they have won another round in the legal battle with Yahoo! China.

They had sued the company claiming that their search engine enabled web users in the country to find pirated media online.

Company representative Porter Erisman said in a statement that they are hoping to sign deals with the media companies in the country to create a licensed download service.

IFPI is represented by media companies including Warner Music Group Corp., Sony BMG and Universal Vivendi.

Yahoo’s Chinese partner in this project Alibaba said in a statement: “We’ve always said our ultimate goal is to cooperate with the record labels. Our goal is to protect and support the intellectual property rights of all publishers.”
