Moser Baer DVD are encoded as Region 0. So they will play on any DVD player. I am not sure whether they are NTSC or PAL - I suspect that the video system is NTSC in which case they should work in Canada. If they are PAL, then they won't play.

I know you can also get Moser Baer VCD's too, but avoid these as you may find problems watching these, so stick to DVD's.

Im not sure but i think if you have a multi regional DVD player, then you should be able to play any DVD, VCD from any country!

i am not very clear on legal terms , but i know that they say "not to be sold outside india".
now, this doesnt mean u cant take ur property abroad with u (u bought em here).

still, get more detailed info before u try and get stopped at the airport.

hmm. how about taking price out of the equation.
Is the quality comparable to a more expensive dvd

So many questions but I am glad that people have asked these questions. Having purchased a few MB DVDs myself, let me answer them one by one (at the cost of repeatation):

You can buy MB DVDs at many places - Music/Video stores, Bookstores such as Crosswords and from the web also. Shipping charge applies on the web but it is waived off in case of large purchases. If buying from the web (directly from MB web site), it will be best to combine multiple purchases into a single order.

Once you have purchased them, they are licensed for your personal use and you can take them anywhere. There is no restriction. But you must open all packages else it will look suspicious to local customs' officers.

A good thing about the MB DVDs is that they come in slimline cases which is half as thick as standard DVD cases. Hence it is possible to carry twice as many in the same space.

Answered above. You can import as many as you like thru personal baggage. But you have to prove that they belong to you. Keep all original receipts.

An emphatic Yes. I once got back 45 DVDs from USA. And I usually purchase at least 8~10 per US (or abroad) trip.

Not true. The transfer is excellent and all DVDs are dual layer meaning that there is no quality surrendered because of higher compression. Of course, the quality depends upon source. For old titles, where the master itself is not good, the quality will obviously suffer. I have the following MB DVDs:

    1. Munnabhai MBBS
    2. Hum Aapke Hain Koun
    3. Jab We Met

All are excellent quality that I validated by using my home theatre and projector.

But I cannot be sure of the durability. Only time will tell. Some of my original DVDs such as Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, Entrapment, Atlantis, etc. have suffered from time damage. They stutter. "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" DVD gets stuck half way at the layer change. Entrapment stutters and plays on. Atlantis DVD is completely unplayable. No amount of laser cleaning, etc. helped. All these are original DVDs.

Moser Baer also manufactures original DVDs and not some cheap copies.

No. There is no shipping outside India. You will have to buy them in India - either yourself, or maybe thru your relatives.

Do read the review (link in my signature).

The only problem with MB is that they are not having Hollywood titles.

I saw some old(not so popular) Hollywood titles from moserbaer at forum once. They were probably cds and not dvds.

    Thank you, Mr. Player.

Actually when I wish to answer a question I generally gather all my background knowledge and do a research as well. I try to leave no ambiguity as far as possible. So members may sometimes find a tone of finality and maybe a haughty demeanour as well. Well I don't mean to be haughty anyway.

But possibilities could exist that I may be horribly wrong and need to stand corrected.
