Thread: Billu Barber

‘Billu Barber’ is expected to hit the theaters in the first quarter of 2009. A remake of the Malayalam film ‘Kadha Parayumbol’, this comic movie has been produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It stars SRK, Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani as its main characters. The news is abuzz that Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone will also be seen in the movie, in guest appearances.

The lyrics for ‘Billoo Barber’ have been written by Gulzar, Pritam is the music director for this humorous movie. For the first time that shahrukh and irrfan will be sharing screen space.

The film is a tale of two friends, a modern adaptation of the platonic relationship shared by Krishna and Sudama. Priyadarshan is expecting to strike diamond with this movie, as it would mark his 75th film as a director.

In the movie, Irrfan Khan plays the title role of Billu Barber (present-day Sudama); Shahrukh will be seen as Sahil Khan (present-day Krishna). The movie revolves around the life of Billu Barber, his wife (Lara Dutta) and their two kids. Billu is a village barber experiencing a slow down in his business, primarily because he fails to adapt to the changing fashion trends. It is during this time that a film unit comes to his village, with superstar Sahil Khan as the hero. Billu tells everyone in the village that Sahil is his old friend. Instantly, the villagers take a keen liking to Billu.

All the villagers want to meet the Sahil Khan and believe Billu to be the perfect person, who can help arrange a rendezvous with him. Now, Billu tries to meet the actor, but is unsuccessful in the attempt. This makes everyone suspicious about his claim. Not only the villagers, but even his family members believe that he was lying about his friendship with Sahil. What will Billu do now? Will he be able to meet his friend? Will Sahil recognize Billu? Will Billu’s family members and villagers believe him again?

Prolly to get the answers....one will ve to watch the movie.....!!!! i m definately gng to watch it.....

They made this in Tamil called Kuselan. It was one of the
most boring movies ever.

It was in the titles. One slide had a typo

nyways i m pretty sure this shud b a good flick...!

I watch Priyadarshan movie in general so i will watch it i don't know it will boaring or not but i still hoping it will be good only reason for this in India few good movies are always treated as 'boring movies'.

well offlate i ve jus not liked any or priyadarshan's movie...to name one...malamaal weekly....i cudnt sit thru tht one.....!

Yes only movie which i also dislike of Priyadrashan is Malamaal weekly(worst movie)

I really hate this director (Priyadrashan). Even though some of his movies are huge hit.I hate him. All of his movies are remake. Are the directors short of new ideas (scripts).

& more guys I hate is Pritam. He is the no. 1 copy cat. Most (all) of his songs are copied. I dunno how he gets nominated in the awards ceremony functions.

But Ramesh I see one positive in this.These remakes provide me the opporutunity to see the good cinemas work of other langauges.Because of language barrier I would not have seen and came to know about some great movies of South.As a movie buff,I don't want to be deprived of good films.Ghajini is a good example.

1.I can't understand south Indian language so i have to watch Priyadarshan
2.Priyadarshan gives a bollywood flavor in south Indian movie(may be story are same and also few screenplay) and his casting is very good also elimination of unnecessary scenes(which is not present in Murugadoss's Ghajini) and sequence of scenes is perfect overall his direction is good(as i feel so).

Billu Barbar seems like a good film to watch, and so far SRK's films have been good, so hopefully this one will also be a good one to watch!

I liked the scene which I saw in one of its trailors:

Irfan comes in, and asks his kids:

Irfan: Maa kahan hai?
Boy: Maa gayi Tel (oil) lene..
Girl to Boy: Aise baat karte hai maa ke baare mein?
Boy to Girl: Arre, maa such mein dukaan se Tel lene gayi hai....

SRK is old, i try Akki and Shaheed now

Akshay Kumar is around the same age as Shahrukh too!

but akki looks much younger

well they kind of look similar, if you notice their skin! Akshay even has grey hair too! Although i like both the actors, so im not siding, whereas you guys are siding!

i used to like srk 2-3 yrs back.....bt nw he looks old........

now he should start doing roles according to his compatibility...that is all wat i am saying.....

i think its high time he knows the market and do things like father, or uncle in films...

I think in Rab Ne Bana De Jodi he never looks as hero specially in common man role i always feel him as middle age family man and yes akshay is looking relatively young than SRK.

yes....n plus its the image tht they carry....!!! akshay is much more fit than SRK ....

The tittle of the movie is not Billu Barber anymore...Its just "Billu".
The word barber was dropped from its hoardings and posters across the country following objections from an association of hairdressers, terming it "derogatory".

is it.....??? but i saw a song from it last nite n it still said billu barber on mtv?
