I have seen the Movie and felt deeply moved.Rakesh Omprakash Mehra has proved his mettle once again. All the characters have done justcice to their roles, notable among them-Rishi Kapoor,Ompuri,Divya Dutta,Waheeda Rehman,Supriya Pathak,Amitabh(cameoe) et al and not to forget Sonam who plays effervescent Delhi girl. The characters are drawn from everyday life and one can identify with each one of them. The story is just not about Old Delhi but about whole India,it's ethos and values in transition. It also exhorts us to shed our dogmas which is difficult for all of us.I must admit that I don't prefer watching movies outside but this was just the right movie to break that streak. This movie made me laugh and cry at the same time.Highly recommended for the entire family.Things you can't miss in this flick-Motorola cellphones, jalebis, rickshaws,Masakali(white dove),irascible Delhi cops,Ramlila and Kala Bandar etc.

For me AB baby is most underrated actor in Bollywood. He has done justice to his role by portraying an NRI and has played his character with elan. Not just him, director has been successful in polishing all his actors.I'm sure people will not forget Abishek for long after watching this movie.Cinematography is brilliant, songs are hummable and they nicely fit in.Kudos to Atul Kulkarni for his 'hatke' role.Very Indian movie in every aspect.

He looked good in the movie Shootout at Lokandwala as a police inspected, it was a cameo.Which witch wished which wicked wish? :tt2:

I don't know! The movie doesn't seem too appealing to me. I don't know what the whole fuss is. My mom is from Indore and the "genda phool" song is copied from an old malwa folk song. Chors!

well as far as i heard the movie is good except for the climax, which turned out to be a sorta anti-climax
- 21st February 2009 #84saurav_kGuest
according to the reviews and opinions so far it seems to be a real good movie. and i like the star cast of this movie a lot ... not talking about abhishek and sonam ... but the cupporting actors are all good. will be watching it within tomorrow. lets see ...

Saw the movie yesterday...The movie was really a crap........I didn't like the movie at all.....The first half was like a documentary movie on Delhi..
Throughout the movie I was wondering what is the director trying to say...
I really want to meet the director & ask him....What was he trying to make..
Is the movie about lifestyle in Delhi 6 or is the movie about the Kala Bandhar or is the movie about Hindu-Muslim community...
Suddenly in the climax the director was trying to give a message saying that the Kala Bandhar is in everyone....But my question is what happened to the real Kala Bandhar which was creating trouble in the Delhi city.
Some of the highlights in the movie are:
- AB's Motorola Mobile
- IBN 7 Channel
- Ram Leela Drama
If there's someting I liked (which made me laugh) in the movie is: The Launch of Chandrayan...people who have seen the movie will understand it...

I also saw the movie yesterday.
The movie does seem lost quite a bit. Till the interval it is quite a drag and apart from AB and Sonam will hook up in the end, nothing is clear. But then to deduce that, you need not go to the movie at all.
In the second half, the kaala bandar story is given a religious (read communal) twist because a saadhu says that the kaala bandar is causing a havoc because 317 years ago, a temple was razed down to make way for the existing masjid.
As said in earlier posts, the movie is all about the lifestyle of Old Delhi. It is story about how best friends/neighbours from different religion turn to hatred. The movie requires infinite patience. It tells about the standard hypocrisy and glitches in the Indian society:
- Two brothers (who secretly love each other), have a wall in their compound so that they may not see each others' faces daily (ego, et al)
- A girl who collects garbage everyday, whom everyone wants in his bed in the night but considered achoot during the day
- The muslim owner of a jalebi shop. His jalebis are renowned. He has a photo of Hanuman in his shop. All the neighbourhood loves him but when the communal fires takes center stage, his shop is destroyed.
- The typical patriarch - he has clipped the wings of his pet pigeon (masakali) so that she cannot fly long - he is trying to do the same to his daughter
- The daughter, who will risk everything to run away to the glamour world of Mumbai
- The NRI boy who is trying to fathom this all - he is aghast that a cow giving birth on the road is a reverred event and the police will allow traffic jam to build rather than dare to move the cow aside.
The end of the movie is too bollywood-istic (have I invented a new word?).
Real Plus: Rishi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor
Good: Abhishek Bacchan, Wahida Rehman
Thumbs down: Rakesh Omprakash Meehra (lost the plot)
Strong Minus: Writer and Editor

I also watched Delhi 6 yesterday. I read the views of Rameshjee and j4k today morning itself but was very busy for the entire day to actually post my views. I found the movie really intreresting and different. If you expect a clever and technically correct movie D6 is not that. The movie conveys some very strong social messages in a very light way. I dont at all see any reason of laughing or making fun of the director or anybody for the "Kala Bandar" concept. It indirectly showed how such small rumours are made big news in India by these crapy news channels. How our society is affected by blind faiths and superstitions in today's world also. The movie also tried to show how communal riots and frictions initiate from some small and meaningless issues. The lifestyle and culture of Delhi was just a theme of the movie. Delhi 6 refers to the chandni chowk area of delhi - as the pincode there is 6. The chandni chowk area is a great example of religious mixture. The population of Hindus and Muslims is equally divided in that area. Thats the main reason for choosing the name. Maybe I am not able to write my views and opinions properly. I wanted to say more about this movie. But, I really liked the movie. Depending on one's viewpoint D6 can be called very funny and meaningless or very intellectual. Do we really need to show full-fledged riots - swords, bloodshed etc to convey the message of communal harmony in a movie. No. The movie is entertaining and intellectual at the same time. The starcast was very good. Some great actors were chosen for some very brief but important roles. I really liked the words of Abhishek at the end - even after dying he said that those people are good at heart. And this is the truth. We Indians are not bad from heart. Everyone wants peace. Its just our misbeliefs and superstitions which cause communal friction. One dialog of Rishi Kapoor in the movie is really appreciable - "Hamare Ghar chote hain isiliye hum Dil bade hone dawa karte hain" ... Yes, the movie lacked in some aspects - like the style factor of Modern parts of Delhi, the chemistry between Abhishek and Sonam and the little bit of required "Oomph" factor which many(specially youngsters) expect from actors like Abhishek Bacchhan and Sonam Kapoor.
I will give it 4.2/5
Ex- The Sumo Driving incident by the kids in the Ram Leela compound.

I liked the movie as it seemed 'realistic' to me.Had it been shot somewhere else,I wouldn't have been able to identify with it.Yes' there's a difference between watching a Movie on the big screen and at home on some device.
Lines that beautifully capture meaning of life as portrayed in the movie:-
"Zarre Zarre me uska noor hai, jhaank apne andar wo na tujhse durr hai
Hai ishq rabse to sabse Ishq kar Yehi uski ibadat ka usool hai"

Come on guys. You are of course, entitled to your opinion. But it was not that bad. It was certainly not an entertainer or a serious film with message. Well, it was different.

I have seen it thrice and liked everything in it and never felt disappointed.I wonder why people are lambasting this movie. Were they expecting a sequel to RDB?The songs are different, all the actors have done justice to their roles.
