I was in Chennai last month for a few days and even went to some very remote areas in and around Kumbhkonam visited a lot of ancient temples there... I find south Indians 100 times more polite and hospitable as compared to us North Indians... may be its just me but I surely believe that south Indians are very polite and well mannered people... you are scaring me mate ... have I got the wrong impression then or what?

admin sir, you are correct, we are very polite and friendly. we are very
hospitable and treat guest very well. we respect people from
other parts of the country. for guests we bring out the best food,
for enemies and people who do crimes we bring out the aruvaal

please watch tamil film mann vaasanai, it has real village violence.

If you wanna have food in banana leaves even assamese and bengalis serve in banana leaves but on special occasions and pujas. south india has diverse beauty when we talk about flora and fauna but i personally hate south indian khana everything has coconut oil in it and tamarind.

The only reason I never went North East is the terrorism there... I would love to go there one day and spend a few days... do the locals mingle with tourists?

Well its good to see different places and get to know people from other states, countries and continents its great fun actually and you get to know stuff that you would never read in books or see on tele or even read on the net..

Who would have told me that covering your head in a temple in South India is considered an insult to the God... and so on if I wouldnt have visited... Here in North India it is considered a sign of respect covering your head.
