The Oscars are just a way for Hollywood to boast their world dominance in the film world and to show other film industries down. They are not the international awards they may claim to be. The rest of the world gets the award for Best Foreign Film, while the Best Picture goes just to a Hollywood film. Hollywood films are watched globally while Indian films are still unfamiliar to many audiences. India has made films for many years, and has been very successful in delivering them to audiences of a subcontinent and beyond. It has made films that are received by over a third of the world’s population and it has some stars that are more famous than Hollywood stars, in terms of the number of people who know them. So why even try to participate in these ‘awards’ and get insulted every year?

Its because Indians are not a creative lot and although lots of movies are made in India, the quality of the movies that come out every week is not even 10% of compared to the movies made around the world and in hollywood. Although Oscar cannot be set as benchmark for good movies, most of the Indian movies do not even have the quality to reach the oscar or any other movie awards!

bollywood need to be more creative and need to create more and more unique movies which are interesting so that they are get to the stands where every one dreams to be.

It would take Indian movie makers a lot to get a Oscar award. They need to make good movies which is something Indian movie makers are missing.

Indian can mak it to Oscar awards but they would have to work a lot hard and make a lot of original movies to get the award.

I don’t think that they started the tradition of appreciating actors so that they could insult Indian actors every year. They are the most prestigious awards ever, which is why also known as International Awards. Atleast they don't copy ideas / scripts / screenplays. Both Hollywood films and Indian films are watched globally but how much one can identify with those pictures. People find it hard to identify with most of the Indian movies. And the bottom line is that, now Indian actors are more concerned about the hollywood's acknowledgement and money. Our yesteryear actors were only concerned about their work, which is why they made wonderful movies (including music). So, indian actors need to stop flaunting and start working sincerely.

Why Not Taare Zameen Par Get Nomination In Oscar

Well, Taare Zameen Par may get a nomination this year. Of course it completely depends on the producers and the jury, whether they would like to send the picture to Oscars.

Don't worry about Oscars! Just make good movies!!

I don't like Hollywood films, but I don't like Indian films either. I only enjoy Europeean films.

most of our bollywood films are based on only one thing that is love... and if you see hollywood movies you can see a big list and good movies... our indian movies don't oscar nomination coz first thing they never meet the targets and expectations... there are very few indian movies which got nominated for oscar... i agree taarae zameen par is a very nice moive...

Oscar awards are for MPAA affiliated movies only. So for them all movies made outside the MPAA stream fall in foreign films category. And within that category there is only one award - Best Foreign Language film.

As smoothvibes said 99% of Indian movies are all masala movies and they have only one aim - a wholesome entertainment for everyone (that most of them are BS is another matter). Hence they never qualify also.

well the truth is Hollywood is considered heaven by most people in the movie industry..so even being nominated for an oscar is considered a big deal. Not matter how much insult, bollywood will still be hungry for the oscars.

the problem is most of the time commercial movies get preference. i think for once we need to look at art movies instead and not just hindi movies but other languages too.
