    Default Second Internet Connection

I have a wired broadband connection which is not exactly perfect and at times lets me down, it is not that regular though but conincidently happens when I need to do something important. I have been thinking of getting a second wireless connection, but I dont know whether it would be wise or not, so I need some advice from forum members what decision I should make. If you guys do suggest a second connection which service provider should I choose?

Dude if you want a wireless connection and if download alot go for MTS (40gb for 999rs).
But first check by asking you neighbours or locality members what works best in you area cos the service, connectivity , signal strength etc Varies from place to place.MTS has the cheapest plans and works the best inalmost all the areas where they promise good connectivity.

Personal Advice: go for wireless only if you gonna use it on Laptop cos it sometimes happen you get different Signals in different rooms of your house so changing PC's location would be a tough task.

Which broadband connection you have at the moment? There will be no point in having 2 connections when 1 of them wont work so it wud be better if you throw your current connection.

Yes I was considering that, but its supposed to give a lot of problems, like slow speed during particular hours and sometimes throughout the whole day.

Its same with all providers.. Idea , airtel, Tata etc will also have some peak hours when alot of users use the net at once leading to slower speed. But MTS has good and affordable plans compared to others. You dint mentioned which broadband you are using?

You can choose MTS, Reliance NetConnect or even Airtel using terthering. Airtel will be a bit costly than MTS and Reliance but will be most reliable.

get a EVDO connection (MTS or Reliance Netconnect+ or Tata Photon Max) and also get TP-Link W8968 modem cum wifi router with 3G dongle support. Keep both wired connection and USB EVDO modem connected to TP-Link. If wired connection fails, the router would automatically switch to wireless.

No, this a feature of the TP-Link router mentioned.

There are other brands of multi-wan routers that will do the same, but support for the Indian wireless companies is more limited. I'd go with what works.

I would suggest BSNL EVDO or MTS MBlaze. MTS is available in most places but BSNL in all circles apart from Delhi and Mumbai.
