Default Which is the best broadband connection in Noida(Sec-41)?

    Hi,

I live in sector 41, Noida. I am looking to purchase a broadband connection for online gaming (Team Fortress 2). Which will be the best internet connection suiting me?
I need connection with less ping (preferably less than 150ms)

Can you please check the ping on following servers:

    a- 208.78.165.233
    b- 185.25.181.232
    c- 103.28.55.232

I have researched a bit about Tikona, Hathway and SpectraNet but I am not sure about their pings.
512kbps or 1mbps connection will do for me. I will be using broadband mainly during late night and morning hours.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Abhay

Tikona is wireless and a wireless connection will have higher latency as compared to a wired connection due to the number of hops and some other factors so Tikona goes out of the window if you are a gamer who cares about the latency to his/her game server.

Hathway is as good as your local cable operator as Hathway's last mile is provided by local cable operators (thats how it works in my area) so if your cable operator is technically sound and is a hardworking individual who cares about customers then go for it.

SpectraNet is a good bet in my opinion especially their fiber to home connection. Nothing would even come close to FTTH when it comes to gaming.

In the end it all depends a lot on your local teams who manage these networks and their over all networks. There are just too many if's and but's. My advise would be to speak to people locally and ask about quality. Make sure you get a gamers opinion not some uncle ji who goes online once a week to check his e-mail.

    I hope this helps.

India is full of FPS, P2P gamers etc but ping is a major issue for them..

In my own experience speed hardly matters for such games, it only gives u an advantage while downloading updates, connecting to servers etc..

Either go for 10MbPs or 512kbps u will get equally good ping..
Avoid wireless as it sometimes give a fluctuating ping, if possible go for wired..i have used mtnl 512kbps, spectranet/nextra 10MBps both gave good pings..
Ping sometimes gets unbearable due to work at exchange but its normal issue...

Avoid Tikona as their are many negitive responses on the forum, but try asking nearby people about their service maybe they are doin good in ur area.

    Hope it helps..

Spectranet or Nextra or any other wired connection would do if you are into gaming. Just don't get a wireless connection and you will be fine.

You could use Airtel or Reliance broadband if they are available in your area. Airtel is a little pricy but is very reliable and is good for gaming. My boyfriend uses Airtel broadband and is very happy with its performance.

Airtel is without a doubt very reliable but the prices are a deal breaker for me.

Its soo fun doin all that... And when the teacher comes to see what the students doin we quitly opn an educationl page haha.. Coolschool life..

i think north India doesn't have many good options in ISPs. i keep seeing members across forums lamenting about this. atmost its either airtel or reliance. told the same to a friend y'day who lives in Lucknow. there too they have only airtel in his area. YOU BB is not there in Lko, BSNL doesn't have lines there in his area. even MTNL delhi is lacking as compared to MTNL Mumbai. here in the west and south of the country, there are more and better options. BEAM first brought the much-despised yaartel to its knees in hyderabad. now its reached Bengaluru too, albeit acquired by ACT BB now and lost some of its magic. in Mumbai there are a plethora of ISPs, and at my place at Thane, we've one ISP (sadly not in my area) that provides 20 mbps unltd (no FUP) plan for 500/- or so per month. i've myself recently acquired a 2mbps unltd connection from a famous ISP here, at 700/- a month (or 6k a year), while have been using the trusty MTNL since years.

I cannot contest that claim. I live in the capital and the only half decent option I have right now is Hathway. There is no Airtel or Reliance and MTNL as you rightly said is disfunctional to say the least. My complaint of dead line was not dealt with for three months so I got the connection terminated.

Airtel 4G is here now but it is costly and I am pinning my hopes on Reliance Jio 4G

Tikona may have good pings but to be honest there is hardly any customer who has a good connection or any connection from them at all. As far as Hathway goes well when the weather is bad like it rains or there are power cuts your connection is a gone. Its only Spectranet which I have not used so I can not judge that connection.

    I agree with Mavric..

In Delhi we have limited but trusted choices of ISP's but the prices are high and speed is less to what there are in south. I have no idea how much my school pays for that 15mbps net that they use over 20pcs across the school with all having equally good speeds..

Yes the medium sized cable and fiber operators are not there in Delhi or shall we say they operate in very select areas especially the new developments. Delhi is so unorganized that is is almost impossible to lay cables at some places.

Noida ,Gurgaon and to some extent even Ghaziabad (new developments) have lots of options. It is the unorganized Delhi that has to live with sub standard broadband providers and that includes MTNL broadband too.
