Thread: Query?

Hi All,

As a result of a google search i just drew to this site and found this site very informative.
Since a long time i was curious to know a few things related to Internat and now i hope i will get my answers from you guys.
So here are my queries :

1. If i send a mail to some of my friend then, just having that mail what informations regarding me he can boil down?.
2. If i open a website (or post on a blog) then what informations regarding me the site owner can collect?.

Some details regarding u can be found from the email header. There are specialised services both free and paid to analyze email headers and trace the computer from which it was send.

The only info he can collect will be your IP. Maybe he can find your OS, Browser info etc .

What about my WinXP "Computer Name" and my WinXP Username?, my Ethernet MAC Address etc...

Surely they cannot find your computer username and password. Yes, they can find out the MAC ID.

I am agree with Cool_techie, they can get your IP, your location through it and your MAC Id also. Even on blog they can collect info of yours like which browser you are using, from which site you are redirected to that blog what actions you performed on that site/ Blog.

Because this is Web 2.0 age.

The best thing to do is not to post personal information on forums, blogs, social networking websites, etc.

From the IP address, it is possible to find the location and ISP but beyond that nothing much.

By just having the IP, I dont think one can find the MAC ID.
