Rep Power: 12 | Basic Idea: a switch . http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2...pswitchbt8.gif ( max RJ45 cable length allowed approx 100 meters ) 2. Since 450BX1 is a wireless wifi router, , and if you want to share in WIFI mode, position the Router at the top floor flat. As data signals are at freq around 2GHz obstructions to the signals path will be there. 3. Confirm all the computers desktop or laptop have wireless LAN cards.. Feedback. 4. REF: similar modem/router. (Confirm please) h t t p://chennai.bsnl.co.in/BBS/WA3002G4.htm |

Rep Power: 0 | how much area will BEETEL 450BXI cover? is BEETEL 450BXI enough to share the wireless signal? or should i use 2 antenna (WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router) kind of router for more signal? is there any difference between these 2 (BEETEL 450BXI & Linksys WRT54GL ) routers ? Thanks for your prompt reply. i have no knowledge.. so need expertise... :-) I was just browsing the net i could see this router --> LINKSYS WRT54GX WIRELESS-G BROADBAND ROUTER WITH SRX (Features Internet-sharing Router, 4-port Switch, with a built in speed and range enhanced Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point Shares a single Internet connection and other resources with Ethernet wired, Wireless-G, -B, and other SRX devices New SRX technology: the farther away, the more advantage - up to 8 times faster than standard Wireless-G (802.11g) SRX also increases wireless range by up to 3 times and reduces dead spots in coverage area) Will this type of router help me to share the wireless internet for my house ? I Should not have bothered you if it's not involving the major cost to buy and test as my own..... Please advise me...... Last edited by kvskishor; 05-10-09 at 04:46 PM. Rep Power: 12 | Point 1 : no reply from you. Point 2 : No comments from you. Point 3: no reply from you. Point 4 : repeated here as 7. NEW: 5. Please try this 450Bx modem+wifi router in wireless mode. since you already have it. Check up the results. 6. Start with one laptop. check its use in Wifi mode, in all flats. Now you know how far WIFI signals from the modem/wifi router reach your laptop for proper functioning. Signal strength also shown in Task bar. ( wireless Icon) 7. For configuring the modem see these links. similar pages. h t t p://chennai.bsnl.co.in/BBS/WA3002G4.htm or The little I know about Dataone Broadband Services offered by BSNL 8.LINKSYS WRT54GX WIRELESS-G BROADBAND ROUTER WITH SRX (Features.......... Do not own one. Using Netgear WGR614 V6. 9. Additional reference : see the maths involved. http://wireless.gumph.org/articles/longrangelink.html |

First try with the 450BXI and see if it can cover the whole range (which I doubt) else you could still get the WRT54X you mentioned and hook it up this way: 450BXI somewhere between the 7th or 8th flr ---- connected with an ethernet cable to the WRT54X placed maybe on the 3rd/4th flr. Placement of the access points is gonna matter since obstructions such as concrete walls can significantly degrade wireless signals. Tweak the SSIDs and ip configuration on both APs a little and you should be wireless in no time. Also if the wireless signals are not strong enough to cover the span of the whole building, you could still have ethernet leads on all floors | |
