Default need some help for WPA Security

sorry for poking my nose while you guys are having fun.
Well I am trying to secure my wireless broadband connection.

Currently my network authentication is OPEN.
When I put in WPA mode it asks for following things:-

WPA Group Rekey Interval: default is 0
RADIUS Server IP Address: default is 0.0.0.0
    RADIUS Port: defaul is 1812
    RADIUS Key:

what should i fill in it?

can you please update your router details, as these things can stay on default for wireless settings on WPA-PSK mode.

I am not sure about this model but would that be possible for you to put a screen shot of your routers WAN setup/ wireless settings page.

    here goes the screenshot.

I noticed today that one doesn't need any password to connect to my network.
I am a bit worried as anyone can misuse it.

PS: this says that enter the DNS name or ip address for server radius.

    there are 2 options
as in screenshot 1, there is option to enable WEP (suggested as its bit easy)
you can just enable WEP Security and can put security key there

    otherwise
as in screenshot 2, Keep Network Auth as WPA only
and in WPA Encryption select PSK
after this it should allow you to type encryption key.

I am telling this from my own idea and knowledge and never used or checked this router. I am sorry

Thank you Aditya for your reply.
When I select WPA,it asks for RADIUS Server IP Address. If I leave that field as default and save it,it says invalid ip address. If i change that to my ip address,i just get disconnected from the network. My lappy fails to detect any wireless network after that.

The radius settings are probably for authentication using a radius and I dont think it needs to be that complex.

Coming to WPA - there's WPA Personal, WPA Enterprise and WPA2 versions of those two. Check if the drop down has selections for WPA Personal or WPA2 Personal. Set WPA Encryption to TKIP - which it already is. In most wireless APs the WPA group key renewal interval is specified in seconds so you could try say about 3600.

But when you select WPA with TKIP it should give you an option to specify a WPA Shared key. It should be available somewhere

Radius server and IP details are not required for WPA. As can be seen from the screen shot they are grayed out.

If you choose, RADIUS as the wireless security model, then you will need to enter these values. So ignore those fields.

For WPA, all you require is the "WPA Shared Key".

When I select Network authorisation as WPA and keep all the other details as they are and try to save the setting,a window pops up saying it's invalid.

This is strange. There is clearly a bug in the firmware. Can you try WEP security?

    You mean WEP encryption. right?

well i did go for WEP encryption keeping Network authetication Open.
When I saved the setting,I was just got disconnected from the network.
I even reconfigured my system setting and filled in the Network key but of no avail.

PS: The most worrying thing is that anyone can be connected to my network without any username or password.

Network authentication should be also WEP or protected or something like that - definitely not OPEN.

Also when you attach images, please insert them into the post like this:

WPA-PSK is what you need. Select that and it'll prompt your for a WPA Shared Key which you can set on this access point. Then on the wireless device/laptop you can specify the same key

As hexwiz said try WPA-PSK, encryption as TKIP.

Else try SHARED and select encryption as WEP
