Lightbulb Configure the wireless LAN adapter to disable its power management settings

Solution

To troubleshoot the Wireless LAN problems for frequent disconnection or no connection, try disabling the power management setting for the Wireless LAN adapter by following procedure:
  1. First, type
    Code:
    devmgmt.msc

in the Run command window and press "Enter" Key to open the Device Manager.
  2. In the Device Manager window, click the plus (+) sign next to Network adapters to expand the selection.
  3. Under Network adapters, click to select the appropriate wireless LAN adapter.
  4. On the menu bar, click Action and then click Properties.
  5. In the Properties window, click on the Power Management tab.
  6. On the Power Management tab, click to uncheck the box next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  7. Click the OK button.

NOTE:
  • Disabling the hibernation feature when Plugged in, also may help resolve WLAN connection issues.

When you deploy Microsoft Windows XP with the Microsoft Windows System Preparation Tool (Sysprep),
you may want to disable the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
network adapter power management setting on some computers.

If you disable this setting on portable computers, it may help preserve battery power when the network adapter causes the computer to resume unexpectedly.
