Rep Power: 1 | Hello friends, I am planning to go wifi with my BSNL Broadband Connection and my laptop. But I am having some general doubts regarding the equipments. I am having UT 300R2u, using this modem since 2006 and it works fine. Now I see many people using BSNL modem then routing it to a router and from router it reaches their laptop through wifi. Now I saw the prices of Wifi routers and mostly they are above 1800 Rs. So my question is Instead of using your same old modem and routing it through wireless router you will have MODEM + ROUTER (Cost Rs.1800 and above) = Wifi Connection You might need additional adapter for the router too, and some extra line connections. So instead of the router what if I directly take a type II modem from BSNL at 1600 bucks, it will be cheap and trustworthy since its being sold from BSNL. Kindly advise |

Rep Power: 10 | Type II modem from BSNL is perfect for home wi-fi network. As it had been said earlier many times on this forum; for Rs. 1600 it's a steal. I have been using the Type II modem UTSTARCOM wa3002-g1 from more than one year without an issue. It's working fine even with my Airtel connection now. |

Rep Power: 10 | Why not? If it's available with them, they should provide it to you. You can say that I need a Wireless enabled modem as I have a Notebook at home which is wi-fi enabled. |
