OpenDNS is a free provider of DNS ,security ,content filtering,antipishing services.
Now coming to setting up OpenDNS
first open Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections

then right click on the network in which you want use OpenDNS then choose
Networking then double click on Internet Protocol

Enter the numbers as shown in the picture.
Now you have set the DNS settings you can access their DNS servers without anymore working.
But if you want to use their other services like Content filtering you have to sign up for an OpenDNS account(OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet).
After creating an account and activating it form your given mail address go to the site sign in, open the dashboard choose the Networks

add your network there
If you have a static IP you don't have to install any software to provide content filtering services if you have a dynamic IP download the software in their site(OpenDNS > Support > Knowledge Base > How to enable dynamic IP updates for a network) and enter your OpenDNS account details into it and the software update your IP every time it changes.
Lastly go to your Settings in the dashboard select Content filtering ,depending on your needs select different level of content filtering or use custom settings by clicking on customize button using which you can grant access only the required type of sites and also you can block particular domains(keep your account details form the other who use you computer and want to access blocked sites)

OpenDNS speeds up the loading of websites and also decrease the starting time of downloads and increases the torrent speed marginally but doesn't improve your direct download speeds .
Now your done setting up OpenDNS
