Default Firewall in type 2 modem for BSNL

    Hi,
I am using BSNL broadband with type 2 modem. While installation was going on today, I noticed that the firewall in modem(or is it router?) turned on. Now with this and the XP firewall, is it enough protection or do I need to switch of XP firewall and buy one from market?
And as for virus protection, I keep on doing online scans from kaspersky and trend micro, so if this modem firewall is good I wont need to spend on a commercial firewall. Please tell me about it.

    Thank you.

It is wise to install a 3 rd party firewall like Comodo or Zone alarm.
