You need to buy a wifi router for this purpose. It costs somewhere around 2.5 k.

You can buy a wifi instrument from BSNL for Rs. 1600 + tax. For rent, it is Rs. 80 per month.

Now a days, there are only type 1 and type 2 modem. Type 1 has one ethernet port and Type 2 has 4 ethernet and one wifi port + 1 USB port.

your router is at 1st floor but your friend is not able to receive the wifi signal at second floor.

Each wireless router has a transmitting range beyond that you will not get the wifi signal unless amplified.

Refer this

Boost your wi-fi range. Cheap!

hi, i am munsif ali from pakistan. in the world of computer gadgetary and terminology, one gets confused as to what to buy to upgrade a computer. i have one x 86 based pc, 650 mhz speed. 128 ram. due to tight budget, i got an ethernet cable connection from a service provider and now thinking over the ways to run internet on another pc wirelessly by transmitting ethernet internet signals thru my pc. i have installed windows 7 just recently and found information about wireless network of computers in control panel, for which a flash drive and access point antenna is used. I went thru a website which has many different sizes of access providing antennas.

will this method be used for tranmitting ethernet cable signals from one pc to other pc. i guess i require 3 or 4 ports hub and a wireless antenna . however i do not have an idea.

@munsif ali
option 1 :
Who is your Broadband service provider in Pakistan?
They may provide you a 3 in one adsl modem/router wifi
model.
2. you need an external wifi router such as netgear WGR614 V9
(cost about INR 1500 to INR 2000/=)
3. The sub forum " Broadband How to >>>" has many guides
to show how to connect laptops in wifi mode.

additional reference : a Type II or Type IV needed.

Post external wifi router such as netgear WGR614 V9- for munsif22-member-india broadband

Thank you very much friend,

your diagramatic information about wifi routwer and its cost, really made me more inerested in computers. now see , the internet cable service provider is paying pakistan telecommunication ltd, and thru his service I get wire connection from 8 port mini hub, lying in the box , which is installed on an electricity pole.

Now can I be wireless router owner, to make members and wireless network of computers, to whom I could provide service in the range of 6 kilometres diametre at least.

now computer no.3, and entertainment consoles can be mine, but according to you the wifi router is available for rupees 2000 to 1500, which is indeed a very reasonable cost.

now for instance if I have a wireless router, howmany computers can I bring wityhin my network and provide service.

But there must be more sophisticated wireless routers.

many thanks friend, I am going to see how a wifi router looks like.

NO. not possible.

Wifi range is limited to a radius of about 30 to 50 feet ( * conditions apply. no obstructions/ height of Antenna Power of WIFI router etc ).
Start your computer:
Start RUN type cmd Ok
new window will open
type ipconfig /all
Copy/Paste the data here.
3.
Confirm yours is cable Internet connection, and no additional modem is used. ( If any used mention model/make company nmae etc )
Normally an adsl Broadband connection is given via telephone line, and we use BOTH telephone and broad band services at the same time.
