Arrow Gain 20% More Bandwith

Hello all, I found a trick that will boost your bandwith 20%!
All you have to do is:

1. Open start>run
2. Type gpedit.msc and press enter
3. Goto Local Computer Policy>Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Network> QoS packet Scheduler
4. Open Limit Reservable Bandwith
5. Click on the enabled radio button
6. Now you will see 20% written below
7. Change it to 0%, Save all settings by clicking OK and closing it.

Now restart your computer and you will gain 20% speed boost.

About the QoS Packet Scheduler:

QoS Packet Scheduler reserves 20% of your bandwith that can be used for some applications like Microsoft office etc. If you set the value to 0%, you will get the 20% of the bandwith too.

Also you can use PGWare Throttle 6 to speed up your internet speed.

P.S. Gaining 20% Bandwith Doesn't Mean that you will get 20% More downloading speed, it will deny some Windows Application to use the Bandwith. So don't think this will boost your speed, its a MYTH

[Myth] XP reserves 20% of the bandwidth - The solution

MYTH
Microsoft Windows XP reserve 20% of your bandwidth for its own purposes.
REALITY
FALSE
though there are many technical reports supporting the fact that XP is stealing bandwidth

Explanation extract
Quote:
Windows XP makes an optimized use of the bandwidth, 100% of the bandwidth is available
almost all the time for shared application, unless an application specifically request priority
bandwidth through the QoS. By default 20% of the bandwidth is allocated for these
special requests, but under normal circumstances this reserved bandwidth
can be freely used by any shared application or data flow.
.................................................. ............

Enable this option and then modify the % bandwidth.
You can reset it from 20% to 0%, though this will not bring any increase in connection.

Yes, I agree with you and i know that windows XP reserves 20% of the bandwith for usage when it needs(it doesn't reserve 20% of bandwith every time) This is useful for newbies who lose 20% of thier bandwith by Automatic Updates or another programs. But setting Limit Reservable Bandwith to 0% will allow you to get fast speed when updates occur.

BUT only when Application or Service like windows updates demand it. In rest case, XP or higher OS of windows uses 100% of bandwidth.

Proof : keep default settings i,e 20% locked by XP for QoS.

Start any download from Microsoft or Download.com and use IDM and check your download speed. I see it in between 32Kbps-35Kbps for my Home UL750+ plan.

SO its total MYTH of 20% Gain.

Yes this is the truth. It's not like XP is always using that 20%, so it's false. Even if it was true why would XP take 20% of your bandwidth. If you have a slow connection then maybe, but a fast one...
