    Default Pop Up/Ad/Image Blockers

Hi friends I have a query am not sure could be a lame question too.
I have a BSNL limited net plan i.e 2.5GB D/L limit so I just read somewhere in this forum that the person has blocked avatars, images to reduce the d/l. So does it help. I mean if i block images on my browser or any other software the image content must have already passed till the application. So does it actually help.

If your target is to save bandwidth, my recommendation would be to use Opera, its got many useful features that allow you to save bandwidth considerably, eg. Opera Turbo and Cached Images only feature. I use these two whenever my monthly limit is near. Curiously or unfortunately, Opera doesn't work correctly with IBF, the quick reply function is broke, or buggy!

I am sorry if I am being too pesky but wont the blocking occur at application level. I mean the router has forwarded the data to my PC and the application gets it probably compares it and then decides whether or not to display it. Isn't it same as downloading as the ISP has given the corresponding to my router

If you're talking about opera. It's uses the opera servers as a proxy. The data first goes to their servers, from where only essential content is forwarded! Images too are compressed and you get an option to reload the images in full quality! Flash content, Java classes and similar plug ins contents are blocked, resulting in high bandwidth savings! Explaining won't make you understand, try it and experience it for yourself!

The one reason why I love FF is because of these add-on's such as flash block, ad block, etc.

    Others also save bandwidth..........
The adds are loaded automatically like anything else, when you are not using any add-blocker but when you are using that it first checks if it is add or the normal image.......
If it is a image, it is loaded but if it is detected to be a add then the browser never loads it.
A thing cannot be loaded automatically if the browser does not requests it to the web server.
    Thus this saves your bandwidth..............
