Default "Connected, firewalled" What does it mean?

I've got internet connection, I checked and I really am connected. But every time I open my browser and/or enter a site it always says site not found even though I have connection. Now I checked my internet connection and saw the status of my current connection to be "connected, firewalled." Could this be the reason for it? I did turn the firewall off but I'm not so sure.
