Default Top 5 Tips to Protect your computer

    1. Use a good antivirus

There are many free antivirus available. AVG, Avira, Avast etc are free. The main advantage of a free antivirus is that it has better reporting of new threats

    2. Install a good antispyware, antimalware, anti adware

This is another form of virus. They hijack your browser and search results. Adaware and Malwarebytes can effectively counter this hijack. Or you can use spybot – Search and Destroy. It also has browser immunization and registry protection.

    3. Use a good firewall

However good your virus and spyware engines may be, there many virus which find a way to overcome the fencing the antivirus. Windows provide a decent firewall. It is good at countering incoming threats but not effective in monitoring outgoing connections. Use a good firewall from Comodo or zonealarm.

    4. Use a good registry cleaner

We may be able to block or delete some of the file. This won’t be complete unless we remove the registry entry. Use a good registry cleaner like CCleaner. Make sure that you create a back up before patching your registry.

    5. Be careful

Most of the virus get in while we browse in an unsafe manner. Clicking here and there should be avoided at all extent. There are many site which are unsafe to browse. Use WOT addon in firefox to identify and browse safely.

    handy Thread.
    Rated but can't rep.

but more things i like to add:

    Always use non-default browser
Always use non-default browse as it is more safe.there are more chances of entering of virus when u use default browser.

    Avoid using Internet Explorer
most viruses are made for Internet explorer.so use a another good browser like google chrome or mozilla firefox.

According to internet reviews, right now Internet Explorer 8 is the best browser when it comes to security. But I prefer a browser which I can customize and uses less system resources like Opera.

Run firefox in safe mode. I guess you all have idea about what is firefox safe mode. Use it only while online transactions & when more security you need. Otherwise use normal normal.
