    Default ADSL Modem :Need 2 hours power backup

    Hello,

    I have laptop and ADSL Modem to stay connected. But, I have a regular 2 hours power failure at my work place.

    Since , I use Laptop , the battery backup for the Laptop is more than 4 hours.

    I need power backup for the ADSL modem so that I can stay online when there is no Power.

    The typical 500VA UPS provides backup for only 10 minutes. What I need is 2 hours powerbackup.

    I know there are certain ADSL modem which comes with builtin Power backup for long hours. But, I need one for my existing ADSL modem.

    Please suggest!

    Thanks
    GIGA

    Try suggestion above, the time UPS works may increase.
    Internet connection may be lost during change over.

    Mention your modem/model/make/number.
    Also power output say 12 V D.C = 1 Amp etc
    The modem can
    be connected DIRECT to UPS 12 V
    battery * conditions apply
    feedback.

    @giga
    1.1.Try 6V Motor cycle battery.
    Direct connection from the battery
    to Modem possible Observe
    polarity
    .
    1.2
    Giving 6V = to beetel may not affect ,as it is
    again reduced to 3 .2 V or so. inside .
    1.3
    to be on the safe side add in SERIES
    a resistance of 1 Ohm
    ( to pass max 1 Amp current and drop 1 V)
    1.4
    SETUP
    6V battery +ve ==>1 Ohm== modemplug
    ...................-ve =========modemplug
    1.5
    See para 2 item 2 about bulb instead of resistance.

    Para two
    2.1. An emergency light if available its battery can be also tried.
    (Current rating not known modem LED's glow will
    be dim I think )
    2.2
    A 6V torch bulb can be used in SERIES
    battery +ve to bulb holder ( Insert BULB)
    from bulb holder other point to modem plug +ve
    Battery -ve direct to Modem plug -ve
    2.3
    OBSERVE POLARITY in Modem PLUG
    Bulb will glow faintly or blow out !.( acts as a fuse also )
    at your own risk *conditions apply !!
    Feedback.
