Thread: Difference between Kbps and KBps.

Hey guys!

I found in many threads that some people are confused between Kbps and KBps.

I will tell u what is the difference.
Here is:

Kbps means "Kilo bits per seconds" as a transfer rate.

KBps means "Kilo Bytes per second" as a transfer rate.

Remember, 1Byte=8bits or 8bits=1byte.

so there's a lot difference between Kbps and KBps.

"b" represents bits
"B" represents Bytes.

So from now always remember to write KBps not Kbps as Kbps is not provided by any service provider.All ISPs Provide speed in KBps or Mbps.

^^ you should also tell people that the ISPs make nice bucks using this public confusion...))

A small correction. All ISPs provide speed in bits/second i.e, either Kbps or Mbps. No ISP provide speed in bytes/second.

dont you know that in India you get speed in bytes and not KBps or kbps...

Its not whether we get in bits or bytes. The ISPs mention the speed in bits/second. Thats my point.

If you disagree, give us the links of ISPs where they mention their speed in bytes.

BTW, what was ruined. And yes, you should be ashamed of yourself for replying without reading the post carefully.

Also its strange that you are ashamed and laughing out loud.

It may be true that your comments in this hour are joke. At the same time, you cant expect someone to view your previous posts to understand that you were making jokes.

Confusion arises as we use bytes for the size of files in PC and bits for internet speed.
8 bits = 1 byte
256 kbps = 32 KBps
512 kbps = 64 KBps
1 mbps = 128 KBps
2 mbps = 256 KBps

and so on
