    Default Changing DNS settings

Ive often been told by my high techy friends that I should change my DNS settings, well its happened twice when my net was not working properly!

Why is it necessary to change the DNS settings, especially to the Google ones??

DNS converts you website address to machine readable IP. If your DNS is not good, you may find problem in the loading of pages. OpenDNS and Google DNS are efficient that BSNL DNS. Hence it is wise to stick to them.

as dilip said the BSNL DNS are not reliable.u would get often errors while loading page.

SO better go withh Open DNS or Google DNS.i use OPEN DNS.

Open DNS is the best, Google DNS sometimes slow down.........
In the night , I use BSNL`s DNS as it gives less ping.

I recently came to know a website in which you can track ip addresses.
ItsMy IP address? Free IP Address tracer and IP address lookup.

On this site theirs free registration and once you have registered you can trace around 25 ip address per day.It gives you the location of that particular ip address and to which ISP it belongs to.(satilite images)

I had traced google DNS servers once and they are located in the U.S.
    So pings are high.
Whereas MTNLs 59.185.0.23 in located in Delhi and 203.94.227.70 in located in Mumbai.
I always use my ISPs DNS because they are the nearest and have have lesser pings.I suggest everyone to do the same.
I have even used Google ond Open DNS but I never felt any difference.

For timepass I even trace the ip addresses of the peers I am connected to because their ip addresses cannot be resolved by utorrent.
