I am looking for couple of VoIP SIP based desktop phones for my academic purpose to learn the VoIP Technology.

I am basically looking at purchasing VOIP SIP based phones from vendor SNOM, AVAYA, CISCO, LINKSYS, POLYCOM etc.

After purchasing these phones I will connect these phones to my local LAN established at my home as a LAB Setup and Establish Calls between these phones with the hep of some SIP Based Proxy Server (Asterisk) and try to learn VoIP Technology.

I don't use these phones for any internet telephone calls either outgoing or incoming.

Could someone suggest me whatever I am planning to do is legal in India? Do I need permission from any authorities to establish VoIP LAB Setup at my home ?

Finally please suggest me from where can I purchase these phones.
