i saw sometimes completely different servers downloading different file blocks for a single file on IDM.. not sure though that i saw the things allright..

i changed the dns server but as i clicked it asked for the ip address..i provided the ip address but then it asked for a subnet mask...what is a subnet mask...plzzzz let me know..

It will automatically take subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 .

The link for those who use windows XP is not mentioned here. Please do so so that I can also increase my speed.

this trick is only for lan connectiona and not dial up

well, my social networking sites got blocked when i changed my setting to openDNS settings as mentioned in the first post. It got ok when I changed it to google DNS settings.
Why did it happen? can anyone tell this?

Strange. My primary DNS is Open DNS. I can access Facebook, Google + and Twitter without any problem. Have you made any changes using your Open DNS account ? No issues, Google DNS is equally good. Continue with that.

I was downloading an 18MB vdo one day my speed was about 20-25kbps. . .it was completed about 542kb I had an update of my BIOS, it might not sound good that i just flashed my BIOS with plenty of processes running in the system including that download, when i started the flasher my laptop went in a full flow, that is , i never had heard my cpu fan with that airy noise screen was most bright . . . Overall, process finished in 40-80 sec and TADA download completed, i checked the vdo file it was ok with full content. . . . . . But i didn't try it again. . . . Coz my dad took laptop away

i use net on mobile . . . . My mobile gprs settings has an option of DNS but not the alternate DNS. . . .anyway thanks for this post

finally know bsnl in and out weaknesses and strong pts....
