Thread: wlan setup

HI all ,

need your help on this

my problem is with wlan. at my home my friend had a connection from tata indicom router . previously she only connected to net . now my other friend and me bought laptops . so for internet connection she set up an adhoc network ( home network ) so when we want we are able to connect through the home network we set up .and we all usally join the network together
the new two laptops are from sony vaio supporting windows 7 while the old one was from toshiba and having vista installed
sony vaio has macaffe firewall installed .

now here my problem starts

when i m alone tried to connect with the adhoc network .it connects butafter every 1-2 minutes it disconnected automatically and reconnect also . it continious this way till im connected .
but when my other friend having vaio connected also with me . i got continious connection no dropping for a single moment.
i have read on net that is due to macafee updated firewall. as on my laptop it updated automatically . while my friend has closed updates.. so she is able to connect ( continious) even alone .

i dont know what to do .. and to solve this . its just a wierd situation .

Try turning off firewall in the router.

yesterday i tried all the suggestions provided by you. but my problem does nt got the solution. as yesterday also when my friend is connected i got full connection signal . but as she log off from the adhoc home network my signal stops falling and automatically connects and disconnects . its start identifying the home network we setup and reconnects. its creating complexities while working on net.

plz provide steps how to do this .. i really need your suggestion on this as im not aware of the networking as such.. plzz provide me a solution

There was a problem with Macafee automatic update recently. Check up update status , of your friend and yours. but do not Update.
A patch has been issued.
Macfee intends to reimburse repair expenses if any due to the faulty Update and also extend License period for loyal customers
for 2 years FREE license (if system has been affected by the Update.)

2. Disable the Macfee Application.
( do not Uninstall if paid version )
3.
Enable Windows Firewall and use any other Free AV program.
4.
If OS is genuine Microsoft Security Essentials can be downloaded.

Who has control of the Modem/router ?
Mention model/make/number.
check ipconfig /all
when all systems access the Interent in WIFI mode.
Change in TCP/IP properties
"Obtain an Ip address automatically"
