Default am i just plain lucky? (Dlink device)

i am using a Dlink adsl glb 502 T router ,and i have come across so many bad reviews about this device.some say connection goes offline after a few seconds,LEDs don't glow when they are supposed to,need for firmware upgrade, port not forwarded in utorrent, irregular restarts due to power fluctuations,it freezes or hangs, either USB or LAN port not working, etc etc.

well i have been using this device since early 2006 and upgraded to unlimited plan since 2008 and after that i have hardly turned it OFF any time other than power cuts which are very very rare at my place.the longest i remember when i didn't turn it off was over 25 days (i did turn off my computer after every 4-5 days).i never got any disconnections or over heating,or any sort of problem whatsoever.have been getting maximum attainable speeds in torrents and direct downloads.have tested both USB and LAN interface and both work fine.to add to that,if fell on the floor many times because of wire getting tangled in my foot, but still works fine.never upgraded firmware.have tested on three OS,XP,vista and windows 7.have used it in very extreme temperatures, dropping to 6-7 degree C in winter and over 48 degree C in summer in extreme humidity condition.

only problem that i have found out to be true is it does restarts even with a minor power fluctuation.on connecting it to a UPS and turning OFF the main power supply,it restarts because of the small lag time of battery power kicking in.this may be a result of a circuit design flaw from the manufacturer's side.

do i call it luck considering so many unhappy customers.

In order to experience greater flexibility with your router, you can upgrade it with the routertech firmware. It is a custom firmware that will increase the stability and efficiency of your router.

I am using the same on my D-Link 2540T.

Please be warned that firmware upgradation is a delicate procedure. It will take time to complete (usually takes three minutes for my modem) and interrupting it will lead to permanent damage of the modem.
