What is the effect of pinging time high(500+ ms) or low

my speed test results sometimes shows 590 ms and sometimes 480 ms which is good

Ping time shows you true colors of your ISP for ex you wanna play online games or use VOiP then ping time is most crucial or if you just use ur internet for downloads then you dont have to worry about ping but still you have to keep an eye on pings high pings are signs of congested network.

and which server you selected for speed test? the servers which are located outside India will give high pings try ur test on delhi and mumbai servers

Dude your ping time is insane high my Reliance EDGE gives better pings than that!, i'm sorry to say there is no solution except BSNL rectify it from their end, i'm assuming that you are getting you plan speed correct me if i'm wrong and if you tested your speed in UL download hours then your pings will be high because every joe jane is downloading at full blast in 2-8 am thus choking whole backbone! but if you are on Reliance then your pings wont fluctuate or go high in UL hours! Reliance gives 24X7 even latency & speed.

Yours seems to be a commercial business connection .
The Upload is apprx 6 times download speed.

UL 1350 Plus
around 1700/- INR bill/month

try tcp optimiser fro speedguide.net.
Keep the slider at 2 Mbps.
If in doubt select default or optimal values.

I downloaded TCP optimizer and set the Optimal setting
Please see both screen shot
1. Screen shot of speedtest.ne shows 579 ms
2. Screen shot of bsnl.co.in shows 74 ms

According to ping of 74 ms, my line or wires should be OK

so what should be the actual problem

TCP IP optimizer will slightly boost your speed but ping times are not in hands of that software as i already told you pings depends upon network congestion lesser the congestion lower the ping.

See i pinged your BSNL.CO.IN IP



apart from pinging it from Reliance i'm getting slight better results with O% fluctuation

with high ping u cant play online games properly..
