    1. Just checked. I am able to log in to data.bsnl using my portal ID and password. Are you talking about self care portal ? If yes, you need to register there. Please mention your location.

    2. Use a bandwidth meter. Shaplus or Networx will do. Networx has graphical display too.

i am being asked for my user id and pass.
which i unfortunately do not know
    Option 1:
Better ask BSNL for the details.
    2.
    option 2:
If you are on "Dialer" mode your USER ID is plainly visible.
The PW will appear as ********* ( usually if given by BSNL password: password)
which can be decoded using special application.
    3.
    Option 3
If you are on "Always On" mode userID/PW entered in Modem
    same as above.
Try View source page ( context menu ) of the WAN entries.
Scroll down. Your PW may appear in plain text.

    feedback.

I know this does not answer the OP's question directly, but I second meetdilip's suggestion of installing a third-party bandwidth meter.

I used Shaplus until I discovered Networx just over a year ago. Compared to Networx, Shaplus is like a toy. Networx does everything I used to wish for and more. It's frequently updated and the support in the dedicated forum is fantastic, especially for a free product. Questions are answered in a matter of hours or minutes and requested features to the program are taken seriously if the request is at all reasonable.

As to the original question: I tried logging in with my portal ID + password just now and it works. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch. Have you tried again recently?
