    Default Wi-fi menace

And again, the wifi became the trouble for guys who used it insecurely. Failing to wifi security, the terrorists used their wifi connection which was not encrypted properly and send an email from their I.P.

People should learn thoroughly before using some new technology and this has been proved once again in Varanasi Sheetla Ghat blast. The agencies have come to the conclusion that the terrorists used an unsecured wifi network.

So this is the question of the time,. Should private wifi networks or devices shall be first registered manually at local authorities or be banned completly. How good this may look to someone who doesnt use it, but people who use it will not like these ideas. So better equip yourself with all the information and technicalities needed to do wifi. Train yourself.

Noone is safe with this, our authorities are sleeping, and after all they will go anywhere to send a free email by your i.p , just anywhere, even your area.
Site from home gaya bhad mein... AIrtel se bolo FUP band kare.. BSNl se bolo 3G signal do!!!!>: (

The main issue here is the faliour of our security forces... lack of proactive measures..

By sending the e-mail from an unsecured wifi network they have not caused any major damadge... the e-mail was sent to claim responsibility from what I understand.

We need to request Isreal to send a few thousand mossad guys to train our people and provide security equipment.. I am a great fan of the way Israel has been kicking ass all these years although they have the advantage of being the only neuclear power around there but the way they have been able to control terrorism in their country is admirable.

I think the blame should go to the ISPs. They should warn the users while giving the connection. Most of the time it is the technicians from ISP who configure the modem. They should also configure encryption to avoid such incidents. Most people don't even know that there is something like encryption or wifi can be accessed by anyone who got a wifi device.

The approach that Israel goes is because of the fact that since post WWII all developed countries(majorly U.S.A, Germany and Russia which sucked jews peeps) have been very friendly and even blindly trusting in Jewish guys because they wanted them to return to their own land Israel and leave their country so they supported the Israeli cause.
I dont like the way Arab people were kicked out of their own homes because of Israelies. If they wanted to take back their home (which they left 2000 years ago) they should come open fight with the Arabs and without the help of America and Russia or Germany and without their help to them of nukes threatning.
Without American arms and arsenals they couldnt shake even a leaf at Palestine. This is just like Kashmiri people were thrown out of the valley by muslims. Can you justify that??

What i wanted to quote here is the safety of users so that they could avoide their wifis to be used by some other guys illegaly. Moroever, this will cause more damage in cyber wars because they can mask their I.Ps as well.

Yup. It is important. Anybody want the cops crawling all over their houses and computers because of something that happened in the street outside their place? However unlikely --- it just doesn't bare thinking about.

No need to bring Israel into it.

Suppose we could bring Sri Lanka into it instead...

... but only becasue they get a far better broadband service, not because of what their government is and has been

    @mickey

I do not support or oppose what Israel has been doing over the years, I was only reffering to their tight security and the way they have been able to put a check on terrorist attacks inside their country...

I can assure you that star news is 90% bullshit.... but I believe the rest of the 10% or 3400 wifi network owners can benefit greatly if they come and read just4kix's tutorials in broadband how to section

The trouble is most people are afraid of electronic gadgets - don't touch it - it might break is the constant warning in their heads.

Configuring a modem is not easy as it sounds. Forget configuring wi-fi security, people do not know how to access the modem in the first place.

True. In some cases, when I ask to type 192.168.1.1 in their browser, some users take it as a site just like Google or MSN. Unless they find a forum like this, they have little chance to escape from huge bill or ISP's customer care.

It is not so many years since only professionals would have had the slightest idea what "192.168.1.1" was, or ever heard of TCP/IP.

Now, many people run multi-machine networks in their homes.
