    Default Mac address spoofing

    I want to use a spare c2110 modem/router to connect to bsnl broadband on the same telephone line(using a splitter).
    I need to to spoof the mac address of this router to match that of the other router which i am currently using to connect to bsnl. There is a option to spoof mac address, but when I tried to change the mac add. it showed some error and did not let me change it.
    Please help me to configure the router to change the mac address.

    You can use a mac adress changing software.
    Search under Google.

    Ya but doesn't that only changes the registry values? The router mac address would remain unchanged(i guess, haven't tried yet)

    spare c2110 modem/router
    You can connect ONLY ONE modem to the
    BSNL telephone junction using an ADSL splitter.
    No need for MAC spoofing etc.

    If you are trying to connect 2 or more modems
    to same ISP's line, and succeed and use two different systems at the SAME time, please give feedback here.

    I used a SINGLE modem for two different ISP's
    ( Airtel/BSNL) and just had to change the RJ11 input to modem. ( VPI/VCI different ).

    Yes, multiple modems/routers cannot be connected to the same bsnl line(atleast I did'nt have success). That's why I am trying to change mac address of my second modem matching the first modem's mac to see if it works...

    Can you share what exactly you are planning to achieve ? If you just need to access net from two different modems, one at a time, you can simply use a modem with a different MAC ID. Though BSNL records MAC ID, your connection is not bounded to the MAC ID of your modem. So there is no need for MAC spoofing.

    There might be a problem with the modem then... actually I read somewhere that spoofing mac address on mac id bounded isp solves the problem. Since you said bsnl is not MAC bounded ISP then problem might be somewhere else... thanks anyways.

    I am sure about it. I have two modems. Both from BSNL (one without wifi and other wifi modem). I have tried both with my connection. Also two other modems which my friends brought to my place to configure it. I configured them and tried in my line using my user name and password. Worked well.

    What is the distance involved ? You can use a wifi or say use ethernet cable to the desired location. Or you can simply go and bring the first modem to your room and use it to connect.

    You can cross check your settings here

    @webextreme
    Not needed by most users.

    Unlikely menu item /page/ is available in DSL2640T ADSLMODEM+wifi router of yours.

    @dipanjan_saha
    (a)
    can you connect to Internet and surf normally now with this modem Siemens C2110 ?
    ( Mac spoofing NOT enabled )
    (b)
    If so then enable menu item
    try any MAC address. with the other modem XXXX
    disconnected ( details not provided by you )
    (c)
    Does Modem XXX has this menu item ?

    Thanks, the problem is solved now. I resetted my modem, configured it again to work with bsnl(vpi/vci) and now it is working. I should have done it in the first place but i wanted to troubleshoot the problem. I could not find the actual problem but managed to make the modem work again. Thanks guyz for help.

    You dont need to spoof the mac address of your modem for an adsl connection. Any modem will work as long as you have configured it right regardless of its mac address.
