    Default Help!! please

i had an airtel connection before with no problems, i was able to connect wirelesssly and also LAN. now i have shifted to a new area and they is no airtel connection so i changed to spectranet. now the problem is, its a direct connection to 1 single pc. i tried connecting to the dlink router, and tried setting up my LAN which but it doesnt work, wireless doesnt even work. i am able to see my other LAN computer in the network but only one has internet access. i tried putting in the same ip configuration in both now ip conflict. spectranet has this dumb username password thing for everytime you turn your system on and you have to keep your browser open to be able to use internet. its sad, really. airtel was best. so how do i make everything work? or am i stuck with internet on just one pc?

No modem is used and the rj45 goes direct to desktop

Your Dlink wifi router ( mention model number)

Check the wifi broadband plan of spectranet.

Confirm the OS used. If windows 7 ,application "Connectify" may help.

No ISP allots more than one IP address. ( it can be Dynamic (changing) or fixed IP

    Copy/paste here ipconfig /all
ONLY ethernet adapter or wLAN adapter details needed.
    Delete all tunnel data

    or post as Annexure here.
    For forum use:

    (a)
Do you need Dir300 to connect to your ISP ?
    (b)
How do you connect the RJ45 cable from your ISP to dlink Dir300 WIFI router ? WAN PORT or LAN port?
    (c)
If you download "connectify" and your laptop has
a wifi ethernet card, laptop can be an AP wifi network.

what they are doing is setting up a local area network and providing internet access to customers through it like the one in offices and colleges this eliminates the need for an modem and thats the reason you can see other people on ur network neighborhood

    ok.
i am connecting through the router, but its like a direct connection to the pc. i have put the rj45 in the LAN point of the modem, not on the Internet point.and then another cable from the router to my pc.(router has 4 LAN points and 1 internet line in point) if i put it in the internet point than it doesn't work. i cant connect to the router also with the 192.168.1.1 thing.
i dont need the router to connect to the isp, but i want my other computer and a laptop to be able to access internet, so i have connected to the router.

when i was using airtel, i just had to put the cable from the airtel adsl2+ modem in the router and everything worked.. no settings nothing..

yes, i can see other people on the network. so setting up my own wireless and LAN from their rj45 cable wouldn't work?

its okay, figured it out. had to go through several threads on this forum to finally get it. i couldn't access the router setting from my computer, it worked from a laptop, configured the router and voila.. its working now. thanks to the forum..
