Default I am getting the 3G speed in my BSNL 3G.

I asked for a BSNL 3G sim card from a retailer and he gave me the Cellone card but I could access the 3G from it. But the speed is very very slow just 300 kBps. My signal strength is not so weak. Then why am I getting just 300 kbps when they promised speed up to 1 Mbps. Do you think I am sold a old SIM card? or is it due to my weak signal strength?

you mentioned 300kBps that means you are getting download speed of 300kBps.

later you mentioned that you are getting 300kbps.

both kBps and kbps are different units of measuring speed.
    kBps = kilo byte/s
    kbps = kilo bits/s

now first confirm, what you are getting.

300kBps is 2.4Mbps which is way more than promised.

    I'm a bsnl 3G user, I'm getting only 100KB/s(bsnl capped to 1mbps)
you are not satisfied with 300KB/s
    300KB/s is a good speed
please tell me what speed you are expecting from bsnl 3G?

Default Is it really kBps or just kbps?

I am using BSNL 3G in my nokia 5235. In the connection manager, when I see the speed it is showing around 144-289 kBps(yeah kilo Bytes per second). But when I connect to the computer and use the net it is showing just around some 300 kbps(kilo bits). I am very confused. Please help me. Is my phone showing kbps or kBps?

yes mobile shows it in kilo byte per second and that is the actual download speed.
and what you are seeing on pc depends where you are seeing. (most of the software for speed tests on pc shows in kilo bits per sec.

Ignore speed test. Always try some real time direct download, using some download managers to assess the speed.

Or use MDMA to know your connectivity speed.

Default How can I reset my ADSL modem?

My modem was not working for a few days and I did something in the IP address configuration page which they go through for installing first, like you should type your IP address in the address bar and it asks for password and id. I did something foolish and after a few days it came again. Now will my usual broadband speed gets affected and how can I reset it to factory defaults?

Mention modem - model and make

Are you facing any problem now ? If everything works, don't repair.

If you are particular in resetting the modem, there will be a small switch / hole in the backside of your modem. In some modems, it is like a ventilation hole. Insert a ball point pen refill while the modem is ON and press hold for say 30 seconds. Now you need to configure it back to your present settings (Hope you know how to do it ).

plz post ur model make of ur modem
or type 192.168.1.1 in address bar of internet explorer default pass admin admin goto factory defaults and apply or

    you can find Reset Switch
usually in the rear or bottom small round access hole right side for 20 to 30 seconds to set to default factory settings.
Then you could access the menu pages.and restore original working from settings made from back up earlier.

    give details of the modem/model/make/number.
    IF it works DON'T Repair!

You can access the modem menu pages and under Management check BACKUP.
Save present working settings to say
    C:/My Documents/Internet modem working.
    confirm.
First ensure, that whatever you do you can restore modem settings. or make settings correctly.
RESET is not the solution to your speed problem.

    Para two:

Post as Annexure( attachment Jpg ) picture
    Statistics/ADSL page of the modem.
    for forum use
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/comput...tml#post315289 (Monitor Screen Shot)

    Para three:
Check your speed here. Mention tariff plan.
    http://Mybroadbandspeed.co.uk
copy the results. here or give the link.

Default Will my broadband be damaged because I did this?

My broadband was not working for a few days and I went to 192.168.1.1 and then did a few reboots(4 times) and also made two times factory default. i also changed some setting and rechanged it. Then I came to know that it was actually the tower problem. Now I can connect to internet. Now because I did all the reboots and factory defaults many times will my modem get damaged and give lower speeds?

No. If you are getting connected to Internet and can surf, no problem.

    Are you having any problems?
If not no its not likely, Resetting the modem kind of works if its crappy settings.

No, if configured properly, it will give promised speed unless you did nothing more than resetting to factory settings.

    Another way to do it...

Take screen prints of the set-up pages on your existing modem, and make sure you know your password. It's usually fairly easy to set up a different modem from that: the layout may change, but the essential information will be the same.

It's useful to have the copy, anyway, in event of your modem failing or getting or needing) reset.
