    Default Unstable Internet connnection

I am using BSNL Type II teracom modem .But for the last four days it is connecting for 5-10 sec and then DSL light blinks internet light goes off or red... Sometimes connection is coming upto half an hour but Internet light is always blinking...
Whether it is modem problem or connection problem?
    How to check that....

    1. Check using a friend's modem. Might be a modem problem.

    2. Toggle between PPPoE / Bridge and check.

    3. Try bridge mode and check what error is it giving.

    4. Reset the modem to factory settings and configure it.

To reset, press hold the reset button (normally will look like a hole on the rear side of your modem. Press hold using a ball point refill for say 30 seconds when the modem is ON).

    5. Post your SNR and attenuation values.

Sure. If it is same modem, simply change the username and password to yours by " editing " 0_35 entry in " internet connection ".

Or you can use this guide

Teracom Type-II ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION

Please mention your current mode. PPPoE or dialer ?

Post your SNR and attenuation values.

If your friend's modem is working, reset your modem to factory default and configure using the guide.

    1. Check splitter and ethernet cable. Make sure they are not faulty. If you have a spare, use it and check. Bypass splitter, connect the line directly to the modem and check.

    2. Also check the power adapter of your modem.

    3.
same problem exists in my lap
Checked using ethernet cable ? Report the status.

    4. Try complaining here

Ok, try talking to the SDE about the issue. Call customer care and ask for his no.

    Complain here

    http://mis.bsnl.co.in/pgs/internet/pgwebregn.asp

To switch to Bridge mode, simply edit the 0_35 entry in the modem's " Internet connection " page change the mode from PPPoE to Bridge.

If nothing works, a written complaint with acknowledgement to Nodal officer and / or Appellate authority will work. ID, phone no and address behind your bill. Call them and seek help.
