Thumbs up Dlink Wireless ADSL Router + Beetle 450TC1

    Hi
I am on an Airtel broadband connection.
I am using a D link ADSL router Model- DSL-G604T

This is further connected to a D link 20 port Hub DES 101 6D

Thus providing LAN / Internet to all the machines.

I am in a 3 storyed (G + 2) building with thick brick walls as a result i dont get signal on the GF [ Modem installed on 2nd Floor]

Yesterday someone gave me a spare modem- Beetle 450tc1

Is there any way i can use it as a repeater/ signal booster?
If not how can I hook it up to the lan so that I can get a wireless signal on GF?

I have a small design studio and as such have limited tech. skills...
Also any way to prevent my staff from mis-using internet for personal mails?

    Sorry. No.

Confirm whether in WIFI mode or LAN mode ?
Internet access also may be blocked. How many systems connected to HUB ?

    Thanks for prompt reply.

The Beetle model is from Airtel as well.
If it cannot be used as booster how can I set it up as a separate wifi router?
    Thanks

Don.t disturb your present Dlink DSl 604 T connections.
    Beetel450TCI.
Connect an RJ45 cable to Lan port of desktop.
Also connect the Rj11 from adsl splitter.
    Power on.
Use a Dialer to enter AirtelUSERID/PW in windows screen.
If connected Ok. If not report error message.

Okay before i got yur response I tried the following-
Plugged a CAT 6 from the hub into the Beetle 450TC1
Result I was a secondary wireless network which I could log on to and surf the net.
But i was unable to find any other machines on the lan.
Also when i tried typing 192.168.1.1 in firefox
i was directed to the dlink router page n not the beetle!

What is a dialer n how do i use it?
    My problem in short -
    -Know little about technical stuff
-Have 2 routers and a switch
want all to be connected (so that all machines have internet ) dont mind separate wireless networks-Dlink and Beetle
    - when i did ask my 'computerwala' to set it up he gave me some BS abt formatting all my machines!! thats their definition of solving any problem-FORMAT

So far my Connections are as follows
    AIRTEL SPLITTER---

    ADSL router Model- DSL-G604T---

~1 Lan cable to switch D link DES 101 6D---
    + To various Desktops
+ 1 Lan cable connects to Beetle 450tc1 [into LAN port]
    ~ Laptops connect wirelessly

    Please advise!

You are using Beetel450TCI as a switch.
    (1)
Open the LAN page and allot 192.168.2.1 for the beetel modem/router.
then try. ( or disconnect Dlink and connect Beetel Only !)
You have to enable DHCP in this router.
    (2)
You may get two SSID's when both Dlink wifi router and beetel wifi routers are on> both having difference security codes. confirm.
    (3)
What is a dialer n how do i use it?
the internet is switched on/off as and when you feel like. Not needed now.
    (4)
Please do not format and try other stuff...
Since you say you are not familiar with technical stuff, let us go slow stage by stage/ step by step, and you also gain confidence. .
    (5)
i dont get signal on the GF [ Modem installed on 2nd Floor]
Mention OS used : Windows 7 or vista XP or sp2
Is it necessary all laptops ( how many ) should be connected in wifi mode ?

    Feedback.

1.How do i open the lan page, toallot the page 192.168.2.1 to the beetle router?!
Every time i type in 192.168.2.1 safari cant open the page as server isnt responding

I disonnected the dlink but then i loose internet access!

    2. Different SSID's I dont mind as long as all the desktops / server are interconnected via lan
ie Using either ssid I can still access the server (At present I can do that using the 1 ssid (d link)
    3. will glaze over that as its not needed!
4.Yup no plans to format!! thanks for your patients and encouraging words!
5.Using Windows xp sp2 and vista in a month or so may be adding an imac
laptops need to be connected wifi mode
    3 laptops

Connect only Beetel to a desktop LAN
Type as usual 192.168.1.1 admin PW admin or password.
    Change and Save.
    Ensure PVC selected shows 1 and 32. ( Vco0 usually ) AIRTEL

    restore old connections.

Even tried resetting the modem using the reset button and a paper clip but no luck!

Tried all possible combinations with and without capital letters

Change the IP of beetel to 192.168.1.2 instead of 192.168.2.1
Presume the DHCP range you entered is same as seen in picture.
Change it to start at 192.168.1.3
confirm you get connected to Internet in LAN mode with beetel unit. only.

confirm how you access the modem settings ID/PW reset done properly
    etc >

also how do i change the SSID name from Airtel to Maneck ?
delete and enter your name. in the wifi page.

    Welcome to Indiabroadband.net.
Your first post is pessimistic , and ridicules the effort of other members.

If you had done search in Google, and given a positive suggestion/ solution, you would have earned 22 rep points from me on your first post itself. !!!
