Default Need to configure WIFI for 3 Buildings each 50 Metres Apart

As a part of my Final year project i need to create a wifi network throughout my hostel campus, which consists of three buildings each 50 metres apart, each building will contain about 100 students. I want to take a leased line from BSNL and configure the wireless connection, so can you please tell me which routers will i need, how many of them and what will be the approximate budget so that i can present the report to my college principal.

    Thankyou for your help

I was thinking of using a wireless distribution system instead of a pair of RF transmitter and reciever. Any ideas??

291.Please clarify whether the project is only for your thesis?
    292 (a) a scale model or a
    293 (b) a working set up
294 (c) Who is going to provide the funds?
    Max available ?
295 Each building with 100 students at different floor level?
296.Why only one BSNL connection ? Tariff plan ?

    Please give feedback item wise.
(Ref number just start with todays' date!!

The time I spend researching collecting details about Antennae/ wifi routers / wifi repeaters etc should not go the way of JPC reports !!

    HINT:
Mode 4 - Repeater. Few Entry Level APs (D-Link 900AP+, Linksys WAP11) can work as a Repeaters. It acts like a client to receive a signal a Wireless source (regular Wireless Router, or AP), and then switches to AP mode to broadcasts to regular clients. Such a configuration can be used to extend the range of a Wireless LAN.

When Access Point is used in Client Mode, or configured as a Repeater it is advisable to use hardware of the same Brand.

I could respond to at least another 30 to 50 new members for the same time span.

It is a part of a college project to enable wireless internet access in the Hostel Campus. The ISP doesn't matter at all. There are three floors in each buildin but only two floors are occupied by the students. Three Buildings 50 students each floor and a total of 300 students. The maximum budget is about Rs 50,000 - Rs 100,000. And this doesnt include internet chares, this is only for setup. I was thinking of using a DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router for each floor
    D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router
    Will it be sufficient?
The RF reciever in my college is about 200 Metres from the hostel building. Instead of setting up a RF transciever from the college to the hostel building, i was thinking of using a pair D-link WDS outdoor access point router to wirelessly connect both the buildings. And then connect it through a switch to the wireless router on each floor.

    .

301:Please see this link. for details.
http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...ifi-modem.html (Which is the best wifi modem?)
302(a)Check the Power output of the models. Higher the better.

303(b)Prefer the WIfi routers with WDS Mode are kept in "line of sight"
and at a higher plane. Say the terrace of the buildings.
    304
    (c)
    Antenna:
a 4 or 5 element Yagi antenna can be fabricated and used for
beaming in a particular direction. ( Commercial units also available )
    Calculator - Antennas: Antenna Calculators
    305
    Test:
    (d)
With a cordless phone ( prefer 2.4 Ghz range) suitably positioned,
check the Paging or Intercom function with Handset.in all rooms
    of each building.

    feedback.

    Default Called Cisco Tech Support

I called Cisco Tech Support and they told me to use a pair wpa200e acess points in bridge mode and wap 4410n in repeater mode to make the campus wifi. The problem i am facing is that wpa 200e is veery costly USD 572. Can i have a cheaper alternative?

Sorry. Enough details and ideas have been given to you for your project.
I also resent, the attitude of members, ( specially the younger generation )who take for granted the
help/suggestions given by members given here, and who answer selectively , and like to have one way traffic
The forum posts are not meant only for individuals use , but for others who select this forum for some help.
Searching in ebay etc and going through different catalogs for your project is bettter done by you.
Wish you all success in your project..

Your attitude is yourself is very appreciative, by talking in such a manner you are actually discouraging your so called "younger members" from joining or participating in the forums. Anyways thank you for your advice but its better if i consider something better than that.

How can I stop anyone from participating in the forum/s?

There is no compulsion to read my posts or respond to it, if someone does not like it Simply Ignore. No hard feelings..

I always wait for first response from thread starter and continue further discussion.
Unfortunately I was the only member who replied to you,
and it was your misfortune to respond to me !!! Sorry.

You should be happy that after 155 hits ( meaning approx 150 members/guests did not care/ found it worthwhile to post their comments suggestions here )

At least I gave you enough details/suggestions for your project, after Hit No 27!!! ( useful/or not another matter )
and you ACCUSE me of stopping /discouraging new members joining forums !
    STRANGE LOGIC !

    Para two;
By the way , you may post the outcome of your project , so that
another college student interested in similar project gets proper guidance. No compulsion.
